That's a wrap on Toledo Talk v1.0 - Commenting will be allowed on existing topics here for another week. This app served its purpose for 4.5 years, but I think a little more functionality is needed now, and the new version of Toledo Talk will provide that. I've been using the new version for quite a while. Some aspects of the new version may be confusing for some because of the wiki capabilities, but in other ways, it may be simpler to use.

Northworst Airlines? DTW to LAS - Hubby & I are celebrating another blessed wedding anniversary with a return to Vegas from Sun., 12/9 to Wed., 12/12. We're driving up DTW and flying on Northwest, but are VERY concerned with the increasing flight cancellations. Some have said that it's the end of the month where one is in danger of such a cancellation, but I do not understand why dates would make a difference. Would someone "school" me on this, please?

Flash: Public Wi-Fi even more insecure than previously thought - There have been a few postings here(and elsewhere) about public WiFi. And I'm not just criticizing about government contracted WiFi services. Nor am I criticizing the local Panera's, Burger King, Mickey D's, Starbuck's etc. I AM warning those of you who use these services that you must take personal responsibility to secure your wireless data communications.

Why I hate unions - I cant speak for any one else, but my opinions are forged by personal experience by me and my family members. There are a lot of folks out here like Jeepbm who take exception to my issues with unions, not that I really care, but at least let me take the time to explain how I came to feel this way - seeing as how both my parents were union members:

Minneapolis bridge collapse - Seems especially eerie to me b/c a friend just told me the other day that she's still afraid to drive over the new I-280 bridge...not because she has a fear of heights, but because she's terrified of drowning.

Restaurant bites Dust - Plea from Bar Owner-Poker Run - This just in from Smokersrights in Ohio about ban damage -
My name is Bob Ebbing, my wife and I own Sure Shots (bar /lounge ) in
Kettering Ohio. We have been hit very hard by the new law banning
smoking. I saw where Kelley's Corner in Belmont had to close due to
this new law . I grew up with David Angie who's parents owned and
operated this restaurant / bar for many years, it is a shame to see
it close because of the many self righteous people who think we
should live the way they want us to, and tell us how to live in a
FREE COUNTRY. in the past two weeks our bar has been a factor in two
poker runs for two different women who have cancer. the first one
raised over $12000.00 the second one raised almost $15000.00. we had
over 200 motorcycle ...

WTOL website smoking ban poll - WTOL 6 pm news told of a 'tell us what you think of the smoking ban' poll on their website. Hard to find (lower left side), and only allows a simple 'yes' or 'no' - no comments allowed, no results shown (why am I surprised?)

Big Brother, Toledo Blade page 3 top right. scans every license plate - So much for the bill of rights. Blade, page 3 top right. New cameras scan every plate that goes by the cop car, compares it to database, misdemeanor crimes will now result in a felony stop I'm sure. I'd like to hear from law enforcemnt on this issue. How do you weigh the use of this plate scanning technology, vs the constitutional rights which we all are entitled. The Bill of Rights seems to have slipped away from us completely. Thanks to wrong wing courts. And could someone tell me why we don't pledge to the constitution and bill of rights. Perhaps had the pledge mentioned such, maybe people would know more about them. When you go to court these days, the prosecutor wants to hang you, the judge wants to hang you, and if you aren't rich, your public defender will simply LET you hang,, unless your case is ...
