Story to watch - Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald to be - Word on the street (and all over the internet) is that the White House is looking for some way to get rid of Fitzgerald. Investigation is too close to too many damaging secrets... too many witnesses have contradicted Rove... they can't afford for the truth to be revealed to the public. So they (reportedly) are seriously considering going the Nixon "fire the truthteller" route.

Fritz Wenzel: In the news, not covering it - Interesting story on ex-Blade political writer Fritz Wenzel, who has started his own political consulting firm and is working on the campaign of congressional candidate Jean Schmidt. Questions raised by Cincinnati CityBeat's Greg Flannery and City Paper's Paula Ross are thought-provoking.

Gouging us at the gas pump isn't enough - Well, at least Waxman objects to this raid on the public treasury to benefit private oil interests. The political analyst who e-mailed the following thinks Waxman doesn't understand yet that Congress is expected to roll over for its globalist masters. THIS is why gas is so expensive - uncontrolled GREED, pure and simple - not any of the phoney reasons that are trotted out regularly - it's the fall... winter... spring... summer changeover... we don't have enough refineries bla bla bla.

Yet another local satire site - On the heels of the Codependent Collegian comes a sister site, Toledo Tales, both produced by the enigmatic "Subcomandante Bob." Laughs aplenty.

Unocal has been sold to China??? - That's what I found most interesting about the following cut-and-paste from rumormillnews.com. I don't ever check rumormillnews directly (got this from a link from another site) for the simple reason that it has an underground reputation as being a CIA black ops deal, with deliberately planted disinformation.

County to build arena? - "The Lucas County Improvement Corporation has agreed to pursue a property option which if approved, could bring a new sports arena to a downtown location. LCIC officials say a confidentiality agreement with the property owner prohibits them from discussing it further." So they have a site already selected?

There are more important problems in Toledo!!! - In response to an article in the Journal about Westfield Shopping Center; Toledo ministers are complaining that there were no pictures of people of color being displayed prominently in the mall. All of the pictures were middle class white women from the suburban areas of Ottawa Hills, Sylvania. This of course is not true as the pictures are random pictures that you can find in any Westfield owned mall and there are pictures of other races in the mall and at their malls throughout the USA however that is beside my point. Long story short, I became upset because I can't believe these pastors and the Journal had time to address this silly issue, especially when there are so many other crucial matters that need to be addressed within the city of Toledo. Not to single out one area of the city but since I grew up in the central ...

MARCY KAPTUR VOTES AGAINST PATRIOT ACT!!! - YOU CERTAINLY KNOW THE BLADE WOULDN'T PUT THIS ONE THE FRONT PAGE, BUT OUR CONGRESSWOMAN THAT COMPARES OUR FOUNDING FATHERS TO TERRORISTS IS ONCE AGAIN TURNING A BLIND EYE TO NATIONAL SECURITY. THIS WAS EVEN AFTER SEVERAL AMENDMENTS THAT ADRESS THE LUDACRIS LIBRARY RECORD ARGUMENT. I'M GLAD MARCY KAPTUR IS WORKING SO HARD TO KEEP AMERICA SAFE...CRAZY!!! SHE WOULD RATHER PUT POLITICS OVER NATIONAL SECURITY

The Toledo Jeep workers are scared, tired and angry. - The Toledo Jeep workers are scared, tired and angry.
1) The real cost, not the smokescreen.
Daimler-Chrysler has consistently eliminated jobs, outsource our work, cut benefits, along with exploiting temporary employees by using them as full-time workers without the benefits. With all of these cost-cutting measures, when was the last time you saw a CEO take a pay cut? Let's go even further and instead of using the harbor report numbers, (The Harbour Report is the benchmark tool for documenting manufacturing ) http://www.harbourinc.com/html/harbour_publications.html
We should use the nonproductive employees. Also included should be all the supervisors, managers, outsource in-house labor, secretaries, unit and possibly some local union officers, appointed individuals, working job bank people. After we get this total, divide it into the number of cars we make, then find out the real cost of making a car.

Franklin Park is almost finished, now what? - So the new stores at Franklin Park are almost complete. A few more will open in the fall. In the meantime Southwyck, Woodville, and other shopping areas continue to fall by the wayside. It is pretty sad when people relocate to our city from places far smaller than Toledo and ask me where are the malls? How can a city of this size only have one mall is the question that is asked time and time again? We all know what happened.

Our justice system at work - Four days after being released from prison, the criminal kidnaps and rapes his victim at knifepoint. Four days. He is 22-years-old and has been in trouble with the law since the age of 13. Why was he released from prison? Doesn't the prison system do some kind of analysis to determine if the inmate has been rehabilitated?

P.O'd Stewardi - I read about these women in the AARP magazine (at a friend's house, I refuse to join 'em)-it's a group of retired stewardesses who are ticked about the airline they worked for trying to gyp them out of their pension. No nudity here, but they are sexy, and are selling calendars. I just thought it might be a welcome diversion from politics. The woman on the far left is Connie Barker-she's 60 years old.

Proposal for the new I-280 bridge - Here's an interesting story in today's Blade. While it's still a long way off from being finalized, it's a shot in the arm for the Marina District project. Any investment proposal from private investors gives the project a major boost and bolsters the belief that the Marina District will thrive.

Slick car sales promotion - What is this? A scam, clever deception, fraud, or legit creative marketing? I'm not familiar with Yark. Are they a car dealership or a loan center? A document sent on behalf of Yark Supercenter, formerly Valton Chrysler, states that the recipient of the letter has been pre-approved for a zillion dollars and is also the winner of a major prize. The winner just needs to dig up his or her dead ancestors and visit Yark on the dates specified in the document to claim the prize. The letter follows ...
