Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) and its Diversity Advisory Committee are holding their sixth in a series of Fatherhood Town Hall meetings to encourage fathers to become more involved with their children.
The free event is scheduled for Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m. at UMADAOP, 2447 Nebraska Ave. As with the other Town Halls that LCCS and the Advisory Committee have held, this meeting will provide fathers with an opportunity to discuss the problems they face in connecting or reconnecting with their children.
Free transportation is available to the Town Hall by calling 419-242-3010 or 419-481-6210.
I'm really glad that events like this are taking place. I know far too many absent fathers who are missing out on the joys of having children. While kids are not easy, they are rewarding and life enriching.
Thank you, @OhioKimono. We are really pleased with the community's response to our fatherhood programs. More and more dads are getting involved, which can only benefit their kids.
I'm glad you are having them after "bankers hours".
@dbw8906, glad to hear that works for you. We'd welcome you to join us.
While I applaud the effort, won't this be a bit like preaching to the choir? The fathers that need this the most can't be bothered to attend these things.
@Taxiang, you'd be surprised at the number of men who have been showing up to these events. More than 100 people were at the last one. Word is getting around that the agency wants to work with them by connecting them to the services they need to become good, involved fathers.
