City Problem or Plumber Needed?

Quick question and I knew my fellow TT's would know:

My sewer line seems to be backing up in the front yard. It happens every so often and I have called Roto Rooter in the past and they have fixed the problem. But, is this a city problem or am I responsible to call a plumber? The reason I ask is because during a hard rain, it seems that the sewers/water lines back up and cause flooding in the street. Anyone else have this problem?

Depends on where the break in the line is. If it's on the city side of the connection, you're home free. If it's on YOUR side... not so good.

it could be that there is blockage...if you have neighbors with the same or similar problem, I'd call the city and ask when they last inspected the sewer for blockage. The city does keep track of such things and whether or not certain areas require regular maintenance.

Periodically, a Toledo crew comes down and reams out the sewer by our house. I don't know why they do that as I thought sewers were supposed to be pretty large, but they do.

I'de bet it's your problem. Typically your sewer line run out to the main is 4' sections of clay tile (in this area). They get bumped around with tree roots and blockages happen much easier.

We just went through this with my neighbor. She had to have a new line run out to the sewer main.
