Sadie is a young female pit bull who's a bit on the smaller side and has a very friendly personality. She went missing yesterday and is likely with someone who has no intentions of taking good care of her.

Sadie's originally owner was killed by a drunk driver a few months ago and he had told my friend if anything happened to him, he wanted Sadie to be with them. After her owner's death, Sadie was passed on to his girlfriend who didn't honor his wishes. Instead, she posted Sadie for free on craigslist.

I saw her on there late the other night and told my friends, who immediately contacted the girlfriend. They told her they'd pick Sadie up by 2 pm the following day (as it was 2 am when they made the arrangements), but by the time they got there Sadie was gone.

The girlfriend left Sadie in the hands of an older and senile man who will not give my friends a straight answer on where she is. Today his story is that he and a friend took her to a house on Bancroft and gave her to people they don't know.

We will buy Sadie from whoever has her and are offering a reward for anyone with an accurate lead. Sadie has a very good home waiting for her and they're worried sick about this sweet girl.

Oh my goodness, that is so terrible.

I cannot for the life of me grasp why the girlfriend would behave like that, if there are people who are willing and able to take care of Sadie.

Sure, the girlfriend may have been grieving the loss of the boyfriend. However, if she cared about the boyfriend, wouldn't she want to make sure that the dog he loved was in a safe home too?

sigh...

I say she never cared for either of them.

The girlfriend definitely never cared about Sadie, and I recall being told that Sadie wasn't happy being with her. She had also lost weight in the few months she was with the girlfriend.

We're at a stand still right now, neither girlfriend nor the guy being cooperative, so I'm thinking it will take someone spotting Sadie for us to find her.

I should also mention Sadie was a free intact female, so it's very important that we find her quickly. At the very least, she's an easy identifiable dog with those dilute brindle markings.

Is it okay if I post this on my Facebook?

Sure, just please omit any negatives about the girlfriend and the man who gave her away. We're still hoping they'll help and need to stay on their good sides.

But you can say that the man had no legal authority to hand her over to anyone and that Sadie was to go to my friend by the rightful owner.

Of course, I was thinking more the picture and your email address so people know. My daughter is a manager at local pet supply company and volunteers at the humane society so we have a lot of dog lovers on our Facebooks.
