Anyone ever notice...

...that one of the ads on the Blade's obituary page is "Dating for Singles 50+"?

I've heard of targeted advertising, but...

So what..this is "unethical" to you? Gimme a break.

mom2 - I've never noticed that but I agree that is not in the best of taste.

I would give the Blade a little slack though, as my guess is that the ads rotate through different locations on their website. I would hope that they aren't targeting that page. Have you called them to mention it?

Jump to conclusions much?

I thought it was amusing.

Shamrock, I'm not even sure that the Blade has control over the online obits. Legacy.com is used by many newspapers all over the country & the content is essentially the same for all papers.

(Though as I said above, I

Damn phone...I was going to say that I found it an amusing coincidence.

Could understand why, perhaps, someone in the middle of grieving might not see the "amusing coincidence" aspect though.

It's pdd how those things work out with the ad placements.

Back in the 70's Mrs. Shamrock advertised in the Blade for a small business effort. She would write letters to children from the Easter Bunny. Turns out out they placed her ad right in the middle of other ads for adult oriented entertainment! Not the best placement!

Its hilarious. And I'm in that group whose friends and aquaintances are starting to show up on the obit pages. You just have to laugh. Yesterday I read In a Senior Center news letter that they were having a New Years Eve party Dec 31, from 1:00 to 3:00pm in the afternoon. I'm rolling on the floor over that one.

I'm guessing/hoping that it's just a coincidence due to ad rotating. Otherwise agree it would be in bad taste.

On a side note of "Anyone ever note..." anyone notice how many New Yorkers there are in Toledo? My gf told me what "party plates" are in Ohio, (those yellow/orange plates) but since this past summer I can't believe how many I've seen and almost all of them are from NY. Either lots of NY alcoholics in T-town, or NY's new plate is like our part plates lol.

Wouldn't really mention it, but every time i drive I see at least one. See them more than any other state or even Canadian plates.

Depends on who is underneath the bunny costume...

Maybe Dick Clark should start hosting an early bird special version of New Year's Rockin' Eve...

I'm under 40, but I can't remember the last time I stayed up to watch the ball drop. Never really got the whole "New Years Eve" thing.

I was young and quite rambunctious but I could get sloshed the other 364 days a year that where not running DUI checkpoints at every intersection. Just another day to get up and goto work and pay bills, woo hoo!

Saw this and made me think of this thread.

I got away with drinking and driving when I was younger, now I cant believe how stupid I was and only sheer luck that I never got caught. Its up in the top 3 stupidest things I've ever done. Looking back on it, peer pressure, being young with a invincibility complex and lack of wisdom and care for others are what I would attribute as reasons for doing it.
