I guess I should be honest with the troops. Christmas is likely to happen again this year. Once again we will have failed to carry out the wishes of the dark lord, Soros.

Rest and regroup for next year's War On Christmas! Fox usually announces its beginning in June or so.

:: looks at graphic, looks at numbers.... hey looks fi....WAIT A MINUTE, WHY THE FUCK DOESN'T THAT GRAPH TAKE A BIG DIP AT THE END?!?!

Now watch as the ToledoTalk TeaTards REFUSE to even acknowledge this thread. There will not be one "mea culpa" from a single one of them. They'll just blame the fuck-up on an "overzealous staffer of Fox News" or some other stupidity, which neatly ignores all the other deliberate "mistakes" in FNC graphics and every single time a "liberal" Republican or one that was in trouble got tagged with a (D) instead of an (R).

Come on TTTTs, prove you have gonads (even if they're smaller than the width of an electron) and say "yeah, Fox News is being deliberately misleading and we acknowledge it, and no, it's not okay nor does everyone else do it."

And while I'm at it:

http://www.mediabistro.com/fishbowldc/fox-news-management-fed-up-by-mistakes_b17529

Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors. Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the “mistake chain,” and those who supervise them. That may include warning letters to personnel files, suspensions, and other possible actions up to and including termination, and this will all obviously play a role in performance reviews. So we now face a great opportunity to review and improve on our workflow and quality control efforts.

That's from 2009. So how's that zero tolerance for on-screen mistakes working out? It's not a mistake when you can look at a goddamn graph from the SOURCE OF THE STATISTICS and see the sharp curve at the end! Or when you can punch the numbers into Excel and make a graph too!

This shit is not a mistake, it's deliberately done to keep TeaTards like those that infest this board whipped up and angry so they ignore what is really going on.

Yeah yeah whatever, someone has to keep the right-wing talking point repeaters from taking over this forum. Truth is I'd be a lot more moderate than I appear but for the fact that Fox News and the GOP consistently do this lying, misleading, racist, sexist, homophobic, you-name-it bullshit that keeps me from being able to actually VOTE for someone who is actually something of a "socially liberal but fiscally conservative" bent... the TeaOP is "socially radically conservative and fiscally moderate to liberal (when it benefits themselves or their friends)" while the Dems are "socially moderate to liberal and fiscally moderate to liberal (unless they are really serious about increasing revenue and cutting defense spending, which would be amazing). Guess which one is the lesser of two evils in my book.

So they made a mistake in the graphic...it's not like no one else has ever done the same thing. As to whether or not it was deliberate, you'd have to know the mind of the person who did the graph, which none of us does. In fact, I'll bet no one can even FIND the name of the person who did the graph.

That being said, shame on them if they didn't issue a correction!

Unlike some, I don't want to defend mistakes like this on the right, simply because they're done by the 'right.' I just wish the 'left' felt the same way about mistakes on their side.

But rather than get into a debate about how terrible one of the media outlets is, or whether 'right' or 'left' is correct, can we look at what the numbers represent? If we all worried less about the 'spin' (from BOTH sides) and more about what the facts mean, we'd all be better off.

First, I don't believe ANY president or administration when it comes to such things anymore. The ONLY reason the rate dropped so significantly is because of the number of people no longer being counted.

For example: when you have 100,000 unemployed and 1,000,000 in the workforce, your unemployment rate is 10%.

If half of that 100,000 are no longer being counted as unemployed, you end up dividing 50,000 by 1,000,000 and your unemployment rate is 5%.

Woo Hoo!!! unemployment cut in half! Let's all celebrate and 'reward' whoever is in the White House!

In my example, there are still 100,000 without jobs, the government is just ignoring half of them.

And, in case you don't believe me, simply because I'm a conservative, here is what CBS (hardly a right-wing demagogue) had to say:

The drop in the unemployment rate comes with an asterisk: while there was a 278,000 gain in employment, there was a concurrent labor force decline of 315,000 from October. It would be far preferable for the unemployment rate to drop because the economy is creating over 200,000 per month consistently, rather than due to would-be employees leaving the work force, either because they're retiring or they're simply too discouraged to keep looking for a job. If some of those people resume their job searches, we could see the unemployment rate tick up next month.

8.6 percent unemployment is still a very high rate. In fact the jobless rate has remained above 8 percent since February 2009, the longest stretch since monthly records began in 1948. Additionally, there are still 5.7 million long-term unemployed (jobless for 27 weeks and over), which represents 43 percent of the total unemployed and the average duration of unemployment rose to 40.9 weeks, the highest on record.

Why acknowledge or participate in your little party when you'll just be your normal self and name call, SHOUT, and throw more feces like a caged monkey?

Eh, what the hell...here's your banana--now start flingin' the poo:

Wow. The end of the world is coming because someone didn't draw the picture right; a picture that was onscreen for probably a whopping total of 10 seconds. Talk about keeping "people whipped up". And, unless my old eyes are fuzzy, it looks like they at the very least got the numbers right (9.0 - 8.6%). But since you think everyone who doesn't agree with you are "tards", you probably think they couldn't read numbers.

As good old SensorG has told me in other threads, the Republic (and the marketplace of ideas) will survive this outrage. Good thing you can rely on unbiased sources like Huffington Post and MediaBistro for your information, right? America--land of freedom and choice!

AC - did you stop after the first paragraph? I also said 'shame on them' if they hadn't issued a correction.

You then conveniently ignore the FACT that the issue isn't a graph as much as how the government (under both parties) manipulates these numbers.

But you'd rather attack a conservative WHO AGREED THAT THE GRAPH WAS WRONG AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED, than actually address the problem: that the policies of this president are causing our friends and neighbors to lose their jobs and stay unemployed.

Remind me again - who was it that promised their plan would keep the unemployment rate below 8%?

No, let's just ignore that promise and focus instead on what evil Fox News did with a graph.

A/C - if the graph was, as you say:

drawn to mislead your little Teabagger self

how is that so many conservatives took issue with the numbers and, basically, ignored the graph?

Yeah - I know that doesn't fit into your nice little perspective, but it's true.

I don't know a single person who even SAW the Fox News graph, while many looked at the numbers and questioned how, without gaining that many jobs, the rate went down.

But you'd rather attack conservatives and Fox News than address the real issue. Would it be so hard for you to admit that a graphic is less important than the actual data?

posted by MaggieThurber on Dec 13, 2011 at 12:20:28 pm     #

Not falling for the "OMG let's question the numbers! IGNORE THE FALSE CHART AND QUESTION THE DATA!" bullshit, Mags and Liney. Unemployment numbers have always underreported, but you'll neatly ignore that fact and probably have no idea what actually goes into the statistics that do get reported.

Of course, with your TeaOP obstructionism it's kind of hard to get things done in Washington right now. Where's that Republican jobs bill anyway?

posted by anonymouscoward on Dec 14, 2011 at 12:07:56 pm     #

IT is heavily conservative which is why I watch it more than say MSNBC or the other 3 supposed news networks that wont do any real investigative reporting. Maddow is a liberal, no doubt about that, but she’s no Democrat apologist either. You want to see someone go after Obama? Watch Maddow. Maddow doesn’t have to make up videos or use incorrect graphics to make her point.

My biggest problem with Fox News isn’t that it’s conservative. It’s really nothing but a Republican front. They could care less about conservative ideals, they care about Republican ideals.

That said, liberals on TV/Radio will never be as successful as their conservative counter parts. Liberal just don’t need the constant re-enforcement of their beliefs. We aren’t offended simple because we disagree with someone.

We’re not worried about our marriages failing because we see gays on TV, we’re not worried about daughters becoming raging sluts because they’ve been vaccinated against STDs, we don’t view the words “happy holidays” as a full frontal assault to our religion and we don’t think showing average everyday Muslims on TV as promoting terrorism.

People who believe these things, have to watch FOX. I if they had to face the real world they would go insane.

When there's a repeated history of mistakes that "coincidentally" benefit your agenda and make your enemies look bad, what other conclusion can you draw? PARTICULARLY AFTER they instituted a "zero tolerance policy" for on-air mistakes that includes termination of employment as a penalty. So either this crap is deliberate, or this crap is completely accidental EVERY time and the culture of Fox "News" is such that not even a zero tolerance policy has caused a change in the fact-checking and quality control. And the latter means you can't trust their news to be correct because they have repeatedly shown themselves to not give a damn about getting it right.

Face it, Liney, if the local TV stations made mistakes of the sort that Fox News broadcasts to a national audience, you and half of this board would be on here howling about how awful their production and reporting are and what kind of political agenda they're pushing. If the Blade or the TFP routinely mislabeled Dems as Republicans or vice versa, there'd be a thread on here accusing them of shoddy reporting and political bias. But the fact that you shrug this off when it's the holy FOX NEWS CHANNEL just indicates what sort of hard political bias and ignorance of reality you have.

In my lifetime I can't remember politics being so personal as they are now. And how can you believe anything you hear or read. The extremes have taken over on both ends of the spectrum.

My TV has a remote that changes the channel and that is what I do if I do not like the programing. It also has an off button. And I use both of these when I'm not ready to be listen to either side.

I agree that Rachel Maddow is pretty fair in cutting right to the root of the problem. And she does it for both sides.

Maggie right about this. In any other country if you are out of work you are counted as unemployed. IF you do not get a job out of college you are unemployed. If you quit looking for work you are still unemployed. We fixate on numbers that have been tampered with for decades now.

I don't get it "toledolen" both graphs look identical to me. I believe the area you've circled is in fact correct. Put your crayons away now, we can all see you have a problem understanding this complicated subject. You're trolling, unless you live in an alternate universe where 9.0 and 8.6 are equal numbers and should be plotted at an equal point on a graph even when a point marked 8.6 was plotted lower than 9.0. But don't let math stop you from doing those disgusting things with that chicken.

Wow that AC guy is full of fury. I am so happy to see lib-tards thrash around about nothing and then come back viciously to anyone who disagrees with him.
So glad I saw the light , got rich and can laugh at all that lib-baloney

Funny how much outrage there was over me using the "tard" word but when someone else does it, it's fine.

Nice double-standard on this site.
