I know this has been covered before... But there's a ton of cops there now pulling leper over.
I'm heading north and wanted to give you all a heads up.

Watch out if you have leprosy.
Give 'em the finger...or maybe a whole arm...

I've heard of racial profiling but this is just a whole 'nother level. Poor lepers.

lol... nicely played. Not sure why my phone confused the words "people" and "leper" :o)
It would be nice if they would do this in neighborhoods where children play instead of a stretch of highway where someone can safely drive 100mph.

Damn I drove through there yesterday and I think there were at least 5 people pulled over, and another cop parked at the bottom of the Ottawa River Road on ramp.
There may have been more to the north, but I got on at O.R. road so I couldn't see.
Toledo Blade: Police Stop 90 Vehicles in Anti-Speeding Blitz
posted by oldhometown on Dec 15, 2011 at 08:57:34 am #
Blade headline should read: "Police create hazardous situation on major expressway with revenue raising blitz." I live in the Point and have seen this speed trap played out numerous times a year. I've seen as many as 12 cars pulled over at once - each by a unique police car with lights blazing. This creates a very hazardous situation on I-75 in both directions. Those going NB see all the lights and figure it must be one heckuva wreck and, of course, can't help gawking. I don't care where the $$ comes from for this folly - some have said it comes from state or federal grants - it's ALL OUR money.
How about we spend the $$ catching real criminals? For anyone who has watched this scene play out, it is nothing but a speed trap to catch the unaware (and, undoubtedly, some speeders) who come flying out of Michigan where the speed limit is 70. And, again as I've said in the past, if you happen to be in the middle lane coming out of MI with a semi-truck on your right blocking your view of road signs, you would have no idea that the speed limit drops to 60 soon after crossing the border. Not an issue for those of us who know but someone who doesn't travel that stretch would have no clue.

I love it. The Feds give the local cops a grant to catch speeders, so they can pay their guys overtime and direct the ticket proceeds accordingly. Where are the Federal grants to catch violent criminals and drug dealers?

We held a community meeting in the Old West End last night, and Chief Diggs was in attendance. It was mentioned that Toledo has the lowest police per citizen ratio of any "major" city in the country. Something like 1.6 officers to every 1,000 citizens.
And yet in NWO we can afford to devote police to speed traps. I realize this may not be toledo proper we're talking about, but the whole situation disgusts me.
B-Swell and Upso don't throw out the "radical right winger" lines at me but it's Federal Union vote buying to get an nice hefty overtime check to the police union members for doing nothing but sitting on the side of the road.
Taxpayer funded Christmas bonus.
Toledo is still considered a "major" city ?? City of Toledo has issued the bid spec for the new cameras to be installed at intersections, including ten that include a gunshot detection system. Also included is a mobile trailer with cameras that include license plate recognition, speed, and general views. I just hope they have enough smart people to operate the system at command center.
