Oh yea. I am with you on that one. But just remember... They are just corporate boobs that need to keep ratings - Positive or Negative - too keep their jobs. But I don't listen regularly either.
I couple of weeks ago I heard him go on about the lack of new business that 'they' were promising as a ripple effect from the new bridge. Seriously... it's been a few months... This stuff doesn't go up over night.
Ive actually got several dj's I just cant stand. Ive empowered myself tho - I turn the knob or pop in a CD...

Interesting thing I just found out in this regard.
WCKY, FM 103.7 is a country station trying hard to overtake K100.
Johnny D is now the afternoon drive guy at 103.7, and believe it or not Denny Schaffer is on Sundays 8am-10am.

You may find Fred annoying but I have found that he gives a rats ass about how our (the taxpayers) money is spent in this city. Sure he is a radio personality but at least he holds the feet of city officials to the fire on issues which effect your wallet.
Ryan, I agree. Fred's a boob. He annoys the heck out of me too. I turn off the radio when my hubby leaves the room in the morning. I find him extremely annoying.
He appeals to folks below the 99 IQ level as do most radio jocks.

Take a stand!! In my car Ive got 12 presets for AM and 18 for FM - I dont listen to people I dont like!! Hence I dont whine about people I dont like either!!

Since when is WCKY trying to take over K-100? I think at this point they are just trying pay the bills...I don't think they even care about the toledo market.
As for Fred and Brian...keep it up guys. This city needs someone to challenge governments corruption.

After Wilson came in and Fred took the morning slot, I ceased listening to WSPD for anything except UT sports. That's what the iPod is for.

For the curious, here's an entertaining, albeit lengthy, thread on WSPD from Swampbubbles.
Still waiting for Fred to clue us all in on the 'transportation hub' (lack of) issue pertaining to Toledo. Guess it's only on a need-to-know basis...
If Fred and Brian were actually doing "their job", I'd be reading more political drama in the local media.
But seeing their "job" is to sell advertising, I find myself reading more and more about them on blogsites and not the local media.
Speaking volumes about "holding feet to fire".

While I think Fred can go too far sometimes and get stuck on the mayor and being too anti-democrat, as rickreed noted, he does seem to care about how tax dollars are spent.
And, he's been a local for a very long time. I don't think you can fault his passion. I prefer Fred MUCH MORE than I do B. Wilson.

I always refer to Brian Wilson as "mush-mouth". The few times I've heard him, he talked down the rest of the crew on the air when he made a F*#$-Up! What an ass.
