Saw this as an older thread here while doing a search on Google. Looked like a good topic to bring up again!
Where are the little out of the way places to eat in NW Ohio that you recommend?
I'll get us started out:
Elbo Room - 3500 W. Alexis, Toledo
The pizza crust is out of this world - so flaky that it's almost like a pastry! Don't miss this gem!
Lee Garden (Chinese) - Route 25, Perrysburg
Wonderful chinese spot - the hot and sour soup is fantastic! I usually get either the egg foo young chicken, the mongolian beef or the shrimp har kow. Mrs Shamrock loves the shrimp fried rice.
Doc's - Main Street, Tontogany
The ribs are some of the best I've ever had! They are very meaty and the sauce is outstanding.
What places do you recommend?
INeedCoffee, isnt that where Crystal Bowersox used to perfrom?
Shuckers in Swanton also Baldys BBQ in Swanton is supposed to be really good.
Love Shuckers. Best fish anywhere. Big portions, too!
Where is Shuckers in Swanton? Is that the one at the corner of Dodge and Airport Highway?
shamrock44: I haven't seen her there, but doing a google search mentioned her performing there a couple times. But I don't think it was her old regular hangout, I may stand corrected.
I've only been there a couple times, after several people here recommended it. It's good, and I enjoy the more mature atmosphere.
House of Eats at the Bier Stube. Weird (in a good way) menu.
Chateau Louise in Luna Pier...biggest burgers you'll find anywhere.
Trappers, Lasalle, MI. go north on Detroit Ave.(South Dixie)M125. Good prime rib for a decent price.
IMHO, Baldy's BBQ had THE BEST BBQ at Smoke on The Water this past summer. Their sides were also quite good.
Yeah, the Village Idiot was the place that she always mentioned on American Idol.
(Side note - that was the only season of American Idol I've ever watched. Got drawn in because of the local connection.)
Madison Bistro - Downtown
520 Madison Ave Ste 1
Toledo, OH 43604
(419) 244-4800
Another downtown spot:
Michael's Bar & Grill
901 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH 43604-5933
(419) 241-3900
Shuckers is not on the corner of Dodge and Airport....dodge isn't any where near Airport. It sits on Airport, rt hand side heading West. There is a carwash directly across the street. It is at the intersection and light of Airport and Fulton-Lucas Rd. Great sea food and pasta!
Shuckers...meh. Not exactly qualifies as "hole in the wall" and certainly not cheap. And it usually has the aroma of dead fish and/or sour towel after they wipe the tables.
I have to agree with MageeThurber on this..Chateau Louise in Luna Pier! Great fish, burgers and their raspberry pie is to die for.
Balyeat's in Van Wert, very cool, old-fashioned place. sit at the counter for the floor show, lol.
