Hi, I'm Mitt Romney and I'm Pro-Vietnam War and Anti-Service!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2083002/Mitt-Romney-19-demonstrated-favour-Vietnam-War-draft.html

A newly-unearthed photograph showing Mitt Romney demonstrating in favour of the Vietnam War draft might leave the presidential candidate feeling somewhat embarrassed.

The veteran Republican, then 19, can be seen picketing an anti-war sit-in at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, in 1966.

[...]

His pro-war son, meanwhile, never served in south-east Asia because his status as a Mormon missionary exempted him from the draft.

HEY TOLEDOTALK BIRD WATCHERS! I SPOTTED A YELLOW-BELLIED FLIP-FLOPPING REPUBLICAN CHICKENHAWK!

I don't care about this. I think Romney is probably the only candidate who can beat o'bummer. Who is, without question, the worst president ever. But to you unstable liberals - who hate your country and yourselves - he is your dream president. We know that.

Omar, I'm no Obama fan (he is a horrible liberal), but you might get taken a little more seriously if you actually gave some reasoning as to why you think Obama is the worst president ever. As far as I'm concerned, all his presidency has been is more of the same ridiculous spending and rights stripping policies that were started post 9/11. If more of the same qualifies as "worst president ever" then your standards for evaluating presidential performance must be pretty low.

As for Romney, the Bible crowd will never get behind a Mormom and he is far too centrist for most conservatives currently. If he gets the nod, prepare for four more years of Obama. Well, we might as well prepare for that anyways because too many liberals will choose him as the lesser evil despite all of those broken campaign promises, continued Bush era policies, and his unwavering worship of the MIC, Wall Street, and big business.

OmarLittle, you are completely wrong and need to be called out on it.

James Buchanan was worse as a President than Barack Obama.

Just had to set the record straight.

Between bush and obama they have raised the national debt more than all the previous presidents combined. So as far as hurting the country I would probably say they tie as worse so far.

Bush and Obama don't make the budget. Congress does. So enough of this "they suck because of spending" tripe. They just don't have the balls to VETO the bills (and it wouldn't matter if they did because the veto'd be overridden in most cases, assuming vetoing the bills that run the government isn't political suicide when the retirees don't get their Social Security checks and the military doesn't get their paychecks).

That said, they are the head of the executive and military and are pretty much the head of their political parties. So when Dubya declared the whole "unitary executive" bullshit and started signing-statementing everything and got whatever he wanted out of a Republican-majority Congress, well there you go. Obama had 2 years of Dem control and he tried bipartisanship and it bit him in the ass. Congress passed him the NDAA attached to the bill that makes sure the troops get paid with a veto-proof majority and he had to signing-statement it, so I hold him to be a pussy for not putting up a fight to say "pass it over my veto, bitches" or telling the Dems to vote no or live to regret it, and it pisses me off that he had to resort to the "I won't detain Americans" signing statement bullshit that doesn't do a damn thing about what might happen if a Republican gets in.

So why do you want to reelect him then?

I would vote for Kucinich or Nader before Obama or Romney.

ac, we found something to agree on!

Your statement:

"....it pisses me off that he had to resort to the "I won't detain Americans" signing statement bullshit that doesn't do a damn thing about what might happen if a Republican gets in."

is close to the mark. Although my fear isn't what a Republican might do, it's what ANY future President might do.

Because due to our elections being "first past the post", I have to vote FOR him to keep the WORSE guy out. Why don't you and the rest of the Tea Party go learn about Instant Runoff Voting?

Speaking about chickenhawks, NEWT GINGRICH IS ANOTHER CHICKENHAWK:

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/01/ron-paul-pwns-newt-gingrich-video.php?ref=fpb

PAUL: I don’t like it when we send our kids off to fight these wars and when those individuals didn’t go themselves, and then come up and when they’re asked they say, ‘Oh I don’t think one person could have made a difference.’ I have a pet peeve that annoys me to a great deal because when I see these young men coming back my heart weeps for them.

GINGRICH: Dr Paul has a long history of saying things that are inaccurate and false. The fact is I never asked for a deferment, I was married with a child, it was never a question. My father was in fact serving in Vietnam in the Me-Kong delta at the time he’s referring to. I think I have a pretty good idea of what it’s like as a family to worry about your family getting killed. And I personally resent the kind of comments an aspersions he routinely makes without accurate information.

PAUL: I need one quick follow up: When I was drafted, I was married and had two kids. And I went.

So sick of the Vietnam war service being an issue. Just once, I would like someone to be honest and say: "No, I didn't volunteer to go. If they weren't going to make me, why would I go? It was a bullshit war and I didn't want to die."

My brother enlisted (Nam). He was married with a kid on the way. He enlisted because he was sure to be drafted. They made a helicopter pilot out of him. Helicopter pilots in Nam had an average life expectancy of 30 days. He never served in combat. Instead he flew LBJ when LBJ visited his ranch in Texas. Did he "want" to go? Hell no. Did the family want him to go? Hell no. Would we have kept him out if we could. Hell yes. But he did serve, and honorably,
