How insensitive. It's an "Oriental" market. It's 2012, people need to be more cognizant of others' ethnic cultures.

I heard there is a new MARKET at Secor/Central. Thank you.
I go to the Bangkok Grocery on Woodville Rd. Very good mushroom soy sauce there. Healthy Boy Brand.
This new store is awesome. We visited today. Its HUGE! Easily the biggest in NW Ohio. well lit, tons of variety. definitely a place we will be supporting!
Omar, your concern is commendable. ;-) But I think "Oriental" is the old-fashioned, insensitive term and "Asian" is the new, sanitized label. At least according to the person who lectured me on this topic not too long ago!

So I went to check it out after work...
Noting that special. It is nice and clean, the location is great, but its nothing I will drive out of my way for. The selection is average for the Toledo area.

Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one! :) I think it's great, and can't wait to go back. My only complaint is it could use some more fresh stuff.
I'll be visiting a few times a month for sure. Between this place, and the middle east market on dorr, i'm getting closer and closer to a complete boycott of krogers and other chains. :)
I have the 2 on McCord that I go to...they are not as clean but their selection is insane. Having 2 locations within a block or 2 from each other is hard to top.

makes sense. mccord is a million miles away from me, and this new place is easily as big as both of your stores combined! sounds like we have good options on both sides of the sea! :)
The new place is big...but its mostly empty space....
IMo you could fit that whole store into one of the others. Its about the same in size as one on McCord. Either way, there's nothing wrong with it, enjoy it :)

I am sure that the opening of the Asian market in west Toledo coinciding with the disappearance of dogs in the neighborhood is pure coincidence....

Now there is a thought.

I nominate ilovetoledo for "Comment of the Year."
I wonder if the place has any dog jerky behind the counter, available only by special request. I haven't eaten that since I was in the Philippines many years ago.
I stopped in today to have a look around, and ended up buying a cart of various items. Prices are comparable with other Asian grocery stores.
One thing that I noticed right away was that the aisle spacing is much wider than similar stores.
I'll return since I live in West Toledo, but it isn't worth driving across town for a visit.
Found another new Asian market this weekend "Toledo Asian Market" it's near the corner of Monroe St and Talmage in the same plaza as Office Depot.
5115 Monroe Street
Toledo, OH 43623

i like the new store, lai lai. it seems to have a very good selection and the prices are better for the items i often get (noodles, sriracha, potstickers, other sauces/ pastes).
i've also been to the new "toledo asian market", but still prefer lai lai.
regardless, both seem to be better than lee's.
I also stopped in to Lai Lai this past Saturday. I was very impressed with the place. Nice selection - which I'm sure will grow and I thought the prices were very reasonable.
Toledo Asian Market on Monroe near Talmadge has been open for about a year and half and I don't find their selection as varied and nice as Lai Lai.
Lai Lai was doing a brisk business when I was there Saturday afternoon.
