Ghost Town in Ohio (Photos...whow!)

I was down in Finley for a job interview (it went really well). After the interview I checked out the attractions listed on my gps in the area and found an interesting listing 'Ghost Town Museum'. What?!

I drive there, what I find is unreal. Check out the photos & notes below....

Location notes:
*No security, or trespassing signs
*Looks totally deserted
*Dangerous buildings, do not go in
*Very wet and swampy grounds
*I found an actual real historic cemetery on the grounds - the stones were very old and dating as far back as to 1825!
*Location info: http://byways.org/explore/byways/69093/places/69211 - I seriously think its totally deserted
*There was a dead deer I came upon while there, a semi-fresh chewed on kill. Pretty wild area.

Do not re-use my photos without my express permission. All you have to do is ask nicely and I will be happy to discuss fair use with you.

I think you may have just found homes for the 'occupy' crowd!

i've seen those signs before but never drove by...

did it look like an authenic town or is it a staged ghost town cobbled together by a junk/demolition collector?

No idea how long it's been closed, but it has bee there for decades.

It was a collection of real historical buildings that had been relocated there and some fake ones. It's sad to see the real historical buildings such as one of the first founding pioneer cabins from 1850 left to rot.

The buildings often still had stuff inside them.

Actually, the city is Findlay, not Finley.

I recall taking out kids to that re-created "ghost town" about 35 years ago. It was made to give the atmosphere of a western cowboy town, as depicted in many Hollywood films.

At a prescribed time, two guys dressed in western attire, guns in holsters, come out to stage a 'shootout' in the center of the town. Of course, the one that has the fastest draw will win. One guy draws and fires (a blank round). The other guy falls to the ground and plays dead. End of show. At that moment I thought "I drove 45 miles to see that?"

Jeep, looks like it closed between 2004 and 2008, according to the reviews at that link I posted. Here's some more info and more pics:

It's a shame dude didn't sell it when he had the chance, much like the Playdium. Hope it was out of sentiment and not greed. It's only worth what someone else will pay for it, folks, not ever what you think it's worth, especially family stuff.
