Apartment Hunting in Toledo Metro

Anyone recommend any apartment complexes between Oregon and Perrysburg Twp that accepts small dogs (beagle size) and $450/m or less for a 1br or economy size? Space isn't an issue I'm more concerned about distance to work in Oregon.

Lived in Picadilly before and had lots of problems but the manager there is nice. Having a dog seems to be the limiting factor. Would prefer some kind of communal yard to walk my dog so knocks out living downtown. Need to move in 3-4 weeks and despite 2 months searching I'm coming up dry except for a complex in Walbridge and Picadilly East.

Might go as far as Brandon Manor but don't know much about the place. Any tips or comments are appreciate. Hope you don't mind me asking here. Figured the TT hive-mind might have some suggestions. :)

Will look around the area. Didn't think they had apartments there just homes. Hear it's a nice area.

Off the top of my head... Concord Square, Three Meadows, Perry Lake Village. Jan-Dal in Rossford is nice and cheap. Had a friend who lived there. Brandon Manor is alright, you get what you pay for. Camelot East. Put any of these in the search box on forrent.com and you'll get all the vital info. If you're concerned about your distance to work, I really don't think the OWE is a good choice.

dell_diva to be fair, the OWE is right on 75/475 and we're 10 minutes from levis commons depending on your driving style :) we're basically that distance from anywhere in toledo, and can hit most of the suburbs in that time as well. 15 minutes max for maumee

Agree with lfrost. Liked when I first moved to Perry Lake, but they switch management or something and my last year there was hell. Even had a lawsuit with them which was a modest nightmare in itself.

Appreciate the posts so far. Looking into "Parkside Apartments" now. Supposed to be near UTMC and the backyard is Swan Creek Park. It's near Byrne and Anthony Wayne trail so don't really know the area that well. Further than I had hoped but google maps says it's only 8miles from work.

FWIW, I work on the outskirts of the OWE, & many of my co-workers live in Oregon, Walbridge, Woodville, etc. They all seem to think it's a decent commute.

(I know it's the opposite of what INC would potentially be doing, but it's the closest comparison I have. Lol)

Seems like that would be a better commute than South Toledo, IMO. I'm not sure I'd want to commute via the Trail every day. Just my opinion.

Not opposed to the OWE. I just want some place safe, preferably where I don't hear trains or gunshots ;) I've only lived or been around the Oregon/Rossford/Perrysburg area since living here so it's my basis of comparison.

Think I spiked rent.com internet connection tonight checking out OWE, dell_diva and others suggestions lol. Ideally hoping to get my first home within the next 2-4 years. Trying to keep things as cheap as possible so I can save as much as possible for a modest down payment.

About 45% of my income goes to Student loans just about $1k. If it wasn't for those I'd be getting anxious for a garden in my yard. Anyway I digress. Thanks for all the help TT.

Hope you find something in your budget that meets your needs!

Whoa, $1k a month?! That's the worst I've heard - I have friends that are lawyers that don't pay that much. Did you look into consolidating with Direct Loans or is a lot of it private loans?

Be very careful in Three Meadows, its a very nice area, but one guy owns a lot of the properties in that area and he is a total jerk. He WILL sue you when you move out. Guaranteed! he literally sued every person in my complex upon moving, even people who lived there before he bought the place.

Coffee, have you considered trailer parks? When I was keeping expenses low after school, they were always the cheapest housing option. Some places are primarily occupied by senior citizens who want to live alone and/or have small pets -- which helps contribute to a safe and quiet environment. I spent 3+ years in a "mobile home community" and saved more than 50% of my paycheck (plus I had a garden).

Viola,

It's not as cheap as you think anymore. My family and I lived in one between houses and we were paying 350 in lot rent and almost 100 dollars a month in just water.

My dad still lives in one with my step-mom and they pay 450 a month plus utilities.

I'll second the OWE for affordably priced places. There aren't a lot of large complexes, but there are quite a few safe, secure multi-unit buildings and duplexes around my neighborhood. Depending on where you work in Oregon, it would be really easy to just shoot down Cherry St and over the bridge.
