He apologized today, same kind of apology Ted Kennedy gave after Chappiquidick. Sleep Number will be back within month, along with Pro Flowers. They all just needed him to say "i'm sorry". It's like an Anthony Weiner "i'm sorry". Or a Robert Byrd "i'm sorry I was a KKK leader" i'm sorry

He didn't apologize, it was a statement, not an on-air apology. Probably some staffer wrote it up and put it on the PR newswire.

"My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."

So according to Limbaugh, she's still a slut and prostitute, but he didn't mean to use those exact words. He meant to say "loose woman", "painted Jezebel", and some more archaic terms more suited to his geriatric audience.

I hope she gets his ass in court for libel/slander/defamation and keeps him there until he starts detoxing from his OxyContin addiction.

People are starting to wake to the fact that this Hate radio thing has escalated into what we've just experienced with the Drugster Rush. They're saying to themselves hey wait-a-minute that ain't right...damn this crap has gone to far. About time people start thinking out side the blowhard box!

A few facts about the Drugster.
In 2006, Drugster was detained at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in someone else's name in his bag. 2004 Rush's third wife, Marta, allegedly grew tired of never having sex with her and filed for divorce. http://pssht.com/biography/rush_limbaugh.html Rushbo has been married and divorced three times. He currently lives with a cat. A regular Citizen Kane!
He didn't register to vote until he was 35. Rush attended college but never finishing and according to his mother, "he flunked everything", In 2006, the Drugster was arrested on a single charge of prescription fraud. He publicly acknowledged being addicted to pain medication. (MORE) http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2009/03/06/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-rush-limbaugh

Remember to add three more zeros next time. It was 63 million people.

She made herself at least a limited use public figure by testifying before Congress. She is now a full-blown public figure by appearing on The View this morning. She isn't fighting for "privacy", she's putting herself out there...not only as a newsworthy person, but as a noteworthy person...a "mini" celebrity.

Also, if I remember right, she'd have to show "actual damages" to win defamation. Has she been kicked out of school? Divorced? Forced out of town? Had her future earnings threatened? Is she facing a mountain of public scorn? Answer to all questions: no, no, no, no, and no. She is a celebrity now.

She's made Limbaugh, and his advertisers, bend to her. She's a hero, and apparently lapping up every single minute of it with fawning appearances all over the press telling Limbaugh to shove his apology back up his ass. She ain't hurtin'...

She wouldn't have been a full-blown public figure unless Rush hadn't gone batshit insane and shoved her in the limelight by spending three days calling her a slut and prostitute on-air which generated such controversy. As a "limited-use public figure" (OHT seems to be an Internet Lawyer here), being asked/required to testify in front of Congress does NOT give Limbaugh or anyone else the ability to slander people without legal repercussions. Now, after El Rushbo has said she's a prostitute (someone paid for sexual acts) and a slut (go look up the definitions yourself), she's going to have to defend herself and character. Never mind the fact she was testifying ABOUT A FRIEND'S MEDICAL NEED FOR "THE PILL" if I recall correctly. Rush made an attack that's way off base, to pander to HIS base, damaging the reputation of this woman, and then issued a pathetic excuse of a so-called apology where he laughs it off as "my job is humor and I used some words I shouldn't have... they were insulting words and I meant some words that weren't as insulting but otherwise carried the same connotations."

By the way, according to Florida law (where Limbaugh lives and broadcasts from), Rush is now a criminal.

If Paul and the others on the left were really worried about women being called names they would have posted about these comments-
Ed Schultz said on his radio show that Sarah Palin set off a “bimbo alert.”

Keith Olbermann has said that conservative commentator S.E. Cupp should have been aborted by her parents, apparently because he finds her having opinions offensive. He called Michelle Malkin a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick.” He found it newsworthy to discuss Carrie Prejean’s breasts on his MSNBC show. His solution for dealing with Hillary Clinton, who he thought should drop out of the presidential race, was to find “somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out.”

Matt Taibbi wrote on his blog in 2009, “When I read [Malkin’s] stuff, I imagine her narrating her text, book-on-tape style, with a big, hairy set of balls in her mouth.” In a Rolling Stone article about Secretary of State Clinton, he referred to her “flabby arms.” When feminist writer Erica Jong criticized him for it, he responded by referring to Jong as an “800-year old sex novelist.” (Jong is almost 70, which apparently makes her an irrelevant human being.) In Taibbi’s profile of Congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann he labeled her “batshit crazy.

Chris Matthews has also called Clinton “witchy,” “anti-male,” and “uppity” and once claimed she won her Senate seat only because her “husband messed around.”

Maher has called Palin a “dumb twat” and dropped the C-word in describing the former Alaska governor. He called Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann “boobs” and “two bimbos.

Maher said of a woman who was harassed while breast-feeding at an Applebee’s, “Don't show me your tits!

Oddly enough it's a liberal woman who points all this out in her column http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/04/rush-limbaugh-s-apology

“It was a vile personal attack on this woman and it was sustained,” Imus noted on Monday. “It was Wednesday and then come back and double down on Thursday and then come back and double down on Friday. And then, issue a lame apology on your website.”

“So were it me and I ran a radio station or whatever, I would make him go down there and apologize to her face to face. He owns a Gulfstream IV (jet). Get on it, go to Washington, take her to lunch and say, ‘Look, I’m sorry I said this stuff and I’ll never do it again. Period.’ Now, he’s an insincere pig. Pill-popping pinhead.”

Imus continued: “I mean it’s disgraceful. You got to show some guts. He has no guts. Look what I did. And what I did was a lame attempt to be funny. And it was three words and I went and met with these people after I’d been fired! You got to show guts. He has no guts. He’s a punk.”

Look at the post above, your boy Imus of "nappy-headed ho" fame calling El Rushbo "an insincere pig. Pill-popping pinhead.”"

The thing about Olbermann and Maher is their shows are on cable, not FCC-regulated public airwaves. Doesn't truly excuse their comments, but it's not the same as WSPD and the bits of their LICENSE which include public service, if they haven't gotten all that removed after intense lobbying by now.

Rush Limbaugh may be sorry he called student advocate Sandra Fluke a "slut," but RON PAUL isn't buying it.

"He's doing it because some people were taking their advertisements off of his program. It was his bottom line he was concerned about," Paul said. "I don't think he's very apologetic. It's in his best interest, that's why he did it."

Consider the simularities of Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore. Both are self-made, both are political and philosophical extremists and both make an extraordinarily good living trying to beat their own record for the most outrageous public statement of the year.

Anyone who takes the outrageously extreme opinions of either of these two entrepreneurs might consider a few things:

1. Even a broken clock is right twice a day - but timing is everything.
2. They are doing this to make money. You're helping.
3. What they say might well be foolish or untruthful, but a lot of people believe them. Think about that one for a minute.

Want proof? Just look at this thread.

Of the nine paid spots that ran, seven were from companies that have said they have taken steps to ensure their ads no longer air during the program

WABC's online feed included about 5:33 of dead air when ads would normally have run.
