This is a great place to eat, and I've never had a bad meal.

Eat there for special occasions and never had a meal that anyone didn't love. Went there about 6 weeks ago with party of 5 for my husband's birthday. We all loved it.
Overall a good experience...service can be slow sometimes, but never a problem with the food
I assume this is the place being discussed:
- The Seafood Restaurant
- 5504 Alexis Road
- Sylvania, Ohio
jr has the right location Maggie. It is in an old house that was converted into a restaurant. Somewhat like Van's on Monroe Street way back yonder.
Candy, whose family runs it is a great manager, a fine Lady, and an old friend !!!
The spouse and I just tried this place. Holy Cow, it was awesome!
It looks like it might get crowded at times, but reservations are possible by calling ahead (419-882-9920).
We had Lake Superior whitefish and yellow perch. Coleslaw was really good, and the onion rings are the best I've had in town. Also, the clam chowder was very tasty and is not as ham/bacon-heavy as Shucker's.
Judging by the row of neighborhood retirees seated at the bar, I'd say their cocktail prices must be reasonable. (I had wine). We'll be going back soon.
you have to try the calimari next time, it is the best we have ever had. we have never had a bad meal there.
I'm glad this place is getting some accolades. J and I were there a couple months ago and we thought it was great too.
This is my step-mother's favorite place. I personally can't stand it. Fried or broiled? Seems to be the most popular modifier. Has a huge following, I know it appeals to a certain demographic. A word of warning: If you drive a tan or silver late model Buick, you may have a difficult time figuring out which car is yours once you fill yourself up on cocktail and tartar sauce delivery devices.
Love this place. A great atmosphere and great food. I'm a huge seafood fan and they certainly do a good job.
My wife and I are going there Saturday Night. Love the place...and we won't have a problem finding our car according to ahmahler...
I agree with ahmahler.
When I was younger and didn't really care what the fish tasted like, as long as the batter was tasty, I loved The Seafood Restaurant .
Now that I have learned to really appreciate good seafood, this is the last place I would go to for seafood. The last couple of times I went there ( a few years ago), it was probably the worst seafood I ever had.
But, again, to each his own. If you like battered fish, then this is the place to go
Also, I will add, every time I have been there, the service was outstanding, and they mak pretty tasty, pretty stiff cocktails.i
Anyone been to the Seafood recently? What's your opinion on food and service?
Our last experience was our last experience. My lobster was badly overcooked and dried out. In fact, all the seafood entries were overcooked. There were five of us, all unhappy with our meals. Service was adequate. Drinks were good.
We stopped in a week ago for a quick snack of calamari, The food was great as usual and service was too. We eat there about once a month and have not noticed any negative changes.
My mom loves it when I take her to the Seafood. The drinks are always good ($5 martini special one day during the week) and service is good. But I wish there were more options on how the seafood is prepared. Reminds me of the old Bayshore restaurant where everything was fried
