I have a friend/co worker coming from Californa to Toledo on Vacation...I want to show her a good time.... I know one night or maybe two we're going to Put in Bay- another day she wants to go to Lake Michigan, and possible a day at Cedar Point... What else can I show her? Like's to party... I'm thinking get a hotel downtwon one night and hit the bars- but will depend on when flight comes in... She will be here in early may.
Any suggestions?

Day trip to a Tigers game and nearby casinos, Greektown restaurants/bars, etc
Add a side trip over to Kelly's Island to see the glacial grooves. It's not enough for a full day, but a visit and a lunch would be a nice addition to the PIB stay...and maybe a stop at the Historic Marblehead lighthouse along the way to Cedar Point.

The fort is neat. Many events. Henry Ford Museum, village, Sautter Village, Museum, Symphony, Put in Bay for parties, Niagara falls is within driving distance,

I kinda have to laugh at how the subject of the post is "things in Toledo to do" but 95% of the suggestions involve traveling outside of Toledo :)

Maybe that's because jim30529 started the thread by saying:

Others might have assumed that jim30529 was not talking about only Toledo but the region.
In early May, I can think of only one place to be, naturally, and that's the boardwalk at the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area for the migrating songbirds. She'll meet other Californians there.

But I realize that we're talking about "normal" people, so I think staying downtown on a Friday and/or Saturday night makes sense. Then tour downtown by walking, browsing, and maybe even shopping.
The Toledo Mud Hens play at home on both Friday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 also at 7:00 p.m.

We are planning a one-night visit to Toledo with another couple. We're from Michigan and thought it was about time to explore the nightlife in our bordering state. We are thirty-somethings, but are shedding the kids and want to find a great hotel to stay at within walking distance (or quick public transportation away) from great food and fun nightlife.

After leaving the brewery, we checked into the Ramada and headed out on foot to find a wealth of interesting places. Among our favorites (in walking distance) were the Durty Bird, The Bronze Boar and Murphy's. They were all so interesting!
The Ramada or Radisson (next to one another) were definitely better situated for walking around. We chose the Ramada because of the queen beds (there were 4 of us) and the dirt-cheap price (we got it for under $50 with a price match deal online).
We didn't give ourselves nearly enough time to visit any of the major attractions - we never even made it to the other side of the river! We are already making plans to come back, though. Can't wait!!!

Obviously, a few things have changed downtown in nine years.
Everyone is forgetting the favorite activity of Toledo: bitch about how much Toledo sucks on online forums. :)

Well ... one of Toledo's attractions for me is that it IS so close to other things to do. A day trip to Canada is very easy from here; we can also hit any shows, museums, lakes, or nature preserves from Cleveland to Chicago. The north/south daytrip axis goes from Windsor, Ontario to Cincinnati -- all while enjoying a serene pace in daily life, and constant access to quality chow. Yay Toledo!
I'm not a huge patron of bars & stuff -- which is why I don't have any useful advice for people who like to party. ;-) I second the nomination for Glacial Grooves! And for anyone who hasn't been in the Mudhens stadium, it's really a wonderful experience even if you don't think you like baseball. It's a nice atmosphere, all the seats are close in -- which gives a different feel to the game. And there is plenty of alcohol available.
