We're getting a privacy fence as soon as we close on the property adjoining our current property. I'm hearing great things about Toledo Fence. Been around forever. A+ BBB rating.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

Marleau Hercules had competitive prices and did quality work on my fence, which was a split rail. They matched it up pretty well to the existing fences along my property line that belonged to my neighbors.
Here is their website: http://marleaufence.com/
I've used both and have no complaints with either Toledo Fence or Marleau Hercules. Both installed vinyl privacy fences for me though Toledo did the smaller project one year but was not really price competitive on the large project a couple of years later.
Part of the installation that Marleau did includes a 7 foot tall solid privacy fence across the rear of my backyard. That thing has taken a beating by the wind over the years but remains as straight and solid as the day they installed back in 2006.
I had Pine River Fencing up in a split rail several years ago, but they didn't return my calls when I went I need new gates installed (these were really old, Pine River didn't put them in) and went with Marleau Hercules as they were much cheaper than Toledo Fence. I have to say the posts that MH put in were much nicer and beefier than the Pine River ones, though they matched up perfectly.
We've used this company and could not be happier. This is the son of a woman I worked with for 20 years.
I'm not entirely sure, but a 7ft fence is not allowed by ordinance in city of Toledo. I thought 6' was the limit for fences behind front line of house.
Nope, it's 7' - or, at least it was when the fence was installed.

7' is allowable on a rear fence
I sit corrected. Maybe I'm thinking about sides of property.
huy guys!
i'm looking for recommendations for a local fencing company.
we have to go wood due to our location, and I'd like to not spend an arm & a leg. There are so many choices in town... anyone have a great experience with a local contractor?
Do not use Tim Mckown!!! His father Poe Mckown put up many fences around the area for years, but Tim has multiple crimmal cases against him for taking the money and not doing the work.
I need some split rail repairs and a new gate, sounds like Marleau Fence is the way to go
As I stated previously in this post, Marleau installed a vinyl privacy fence for me back in 2006. All told, about 125' total. They did a great job and the fence has held up very well - no sagging, bowing or fading (the vertical vinyl "planks" of the fence are tan colored faux woodgrain) whatsoever.
If you decide to automate your gate so you can keep it closed and not have to get out of the car every time, Dick's Automatic Door handles gate operators.
Upso, did you ever get any quotes on your fence?
Well, time for the third round of trying to get a fence estimate.
Marleau-Hercules never got in touch with me, even though I emailed them and called twice. I've made a final attempt.
I have contacted King Fence. They have some good reviews.
And finally, I've reached out to Pine River Deck & Fence. We'll see how that goes.
I have had some quotes from another area place (out in Swanton). They did some grading and other work for us this summer, and they'd given us a privacy fence quote that was reasonable, but we incorporated some of the work in that quote into the work they've already done, so we needed a new quote. With what I thought were a few minor additions, somehow the new quote came in at $10K more than the first one. Um, no.
I'm hoping that by talking to some companies that JUST do fences (or at least primarily do fences), and that perhaps build their own (instead of buying panels from Menards) that I will get more reasonable pricing. Fingers crossed.
I'm very fence-frustrated right now. And sad. So, so sad.
Oh, and I also called JB's Straitline Fence in Walbridge.
Gamegrrl, who did your grading and would you recommend them for that type of work? We need some backyard drainage and a stone wall. I'd do it myself, but I don't want that D-I-Y look! Thanks.
Bill's Lawn and Landscape did our grading, and we are very pleased.

Thanks, Upso. I was just wondering who you'd gone with.
I've used JB's Straitline for many years for lots of fencing projects and have been happy with everything he's done.
Thanks for the input, ldr. They will be coming out tomorrow to take a look.
I am, frankly, amazed at how difficult it is to get a quote from most of these places. Shame on them.
What are the linear dimensions for the fence you need, GG?

Also, are there likely to be tree roots in the way of any of the posts?
