Drug related kidnapping (not the victim's first run-in)

Some of you may have seen the news today that 2 drug dealers kidnapped a local man (Shaun Mancini)and made him call relatives for $1,000 to settle a drug debt. Those 2 drug dealers are being charged with kidnapping and extortion.

Apparently this is not the first time that Mr. Mancini has gotten into trouble over a drug debt.

In 2007, someone showed up at Mr. Mancini's house (allegedly) demanding money for a drug debt, and Mr. Mancini shot the guy.

He apparently claimed it was "self-defense" due to burglary.

Story mentions that all three winners were found in the parking lot of Dollar General on Airport Highway.

That neighborhood is the straight-up ghetto nowadays. As bad as any area of the "inner" city.

Seems like every time I click on a story about a shooting, robbery, or now kidnapping, it somehow ties back into that area.

I used to work at the radio palace (K-100/WRQN/WTOD) on Arlington and it wasn't great then (lots of break-ins & other crap at the nearby apartments), but now...yikes.

Hard to feel sympathy for the victim: trying to weasel out on a $1K debt to drug dealers is pretty stupid. What did he think - they would forgive and forget?

Addiction is one thing, but f**king with drug dealers? Borderline imbecilic.

How dumb is the dealer for fronting 1k?!? If my dealer is in a good mood, he'll front me a hundred dollar quarter. But $1000 for, what I'm sure is something more than pot, dumb dealer! Anyway, send the dealer to Gitmo. That's all.

in my opinion, Rx painkillers are the top problem drug since they are what gets abused first before they turn to heroin
