Do you feel the same way about overweight people who shorten their lives with food? McDonalds causes more early deaths than the dope dealer ever could. More people addicted to ice cream every night than blow.

Hey folks McDonald's food and ice cream are legal. What you do with them is your business. Coke is illegal and is known to cause premature death.

And yes, a premature death is a tragedy.

EVERY premature death is tragic? So a guy who killed several people and then gets killed is tragic? I'd beg to differ with that broad generalization.

AND we know that eating fast food AND coke will both cause problems. I'm not sure what your point is with that, unless you're saying that we should feel tragedy for a person who went out of their way to attain something that is illegal.

So if you shorten your life and place undue stress on the healthcare system with a bag of "legal" its the American Way, freedom of choice.

coke must be nasty business...

it is mostly wealthy people with access and usually it is people with sudden wealth who succomb. seems to me it is generally people who have an underlying unhappy circumstance looking for either something more from life or an escape from life. seems also to get people who have no one responsible around them/no one who can say no to them.

hanger-on losers and those looking to prey upon discontented wealthy or the neauvou riche can smell opportunity and just glam on like leeches. it is not just celebrities... there have been many successful corporate types i have known who have hit bottom... think of several prominent bars around town over the last 30 years that were the hot spot one month and a month later mysteriously shut down... almost always coke. it can be easy to criticize because most of us will not have the wealth or do have a support structure that would stop coke from coming into and controlling our lives... feel fortunate cause a car wreck can happen to anyone.

for a couple years whitney was the greatest pop singer in the world and periodically could avoid the pitfalls around her and make the magic again. she was not able to look out for her own self interest in the long run and nobody reliable around her was able to do so either. i get the joke... it doesn't particularly bother me, i don't even own a whitney record... but it's not particularly funny either
