My brother who lives on White Street in East Toledo has a neighbor who has two sons who are causing some trouble in the neighborhood. The younger (at 13) has been kicked out of school, and gotten another teenager pregnant. The older was kicked out of school last year. They now participate in neighborhood "ultimate fighting" gatherings which their father sometimes videotapes, and puts on YouTube.
Sunday evening (my brother says between 7 and 8 PM) the younger boy went to the 1400 block of White Street, and punched a young black boy (I think he is 15). The parents of this boy and their other kids do not allow the kids out of their front yard so I don't see where he was the source of the trouble. The "hitter" participates in a local past-time where the "striker" tries to knock a victim unconscious with one punch. The black boy went down on the back of his head, and the "hitter's" brother (who is 17) began to kick him while he was down. The downed kid went into a seizure, and was taken to the hospital. The rumor is that he was in a coma.
The younger "hitter" was taken into police custody, but the older brother (who is on probation for arson)escaped to safety in another house in the neighborhood. My brother said that last night they came back to their father's house in a van with "East Side Family Center" on the side. He is a little pissed that his taxes pay to shuttle these miscreants back to the safety of their home.
He tried to contact the older kid's probation officer, but has had no luck so far. You would think this fighting would be a violation of his parole.
Since I have seen nothing in the Blade I am beginning to wonder if this might be some kind of April Fool's joke. My brother showed me a picture of the kid being put in a police car in handcuffs, but how could the two boys be out of trouble so quickly?
