The Cherry Street Mission at 105 17th Street can do that. No need to dress up.

I think Mancy's Italian on Monroe Street has a birthday deal of some sort.
And by the way, Happy Birthday! How old are you getting to be?
Ciao! They used to do free entree on your birthday.

Just FYI, real seafood offers a fifty percent discount, not a free meal.
If you are friends with Doc Watsons on Facebook, they are often good at wishing you a happy birthday on your wall and saying stop in for a free meal. If went with a friend once and she asked the waitress how they knew who was legit. Apparently the management prints off the pictures and names of those they offered the deal to and shows it to the servers. Pretty upstanding if you ask me.
Billy, I have a birthday this week-end too, on the 14th. My father and I share a birthday. He will be 92 and I will be somewhat less than 92. Mancy's Italian has a birthday deal. Not sure if it's one entree free or a certain $$ amount off, but that's where I will be on Saturday. You must show them your driver's license or other proof of age and it has to be on the exact day. Anyway, Happy Birthday to you. CatLady
If you registered ahead of time, BD's Mongolian gives you a free meal on your birthday.

Ahmed Steak House on Alexis used to give free meal for birthday. I would call first to see if the offer still stands.
LOL @ Doc Watson's printing off the facebook walls for the servers. Not so much. No FB or registration required. Just go in there, tell them it is your birthday, and they will take $15.00 off of your food bill. That will cover most entrees and sammies. If you start doing it too much, I'm sure they will card you. But as for the whole facebook "mugshot" thing, nope. While you are there, enjoy a tasty pint of Bass Ale.
Justread....was going off what the server told us. A free meal is a free meal.

I believe Ahmed's does a percentage off based on how old you are. So if you turn 30, it'd be 30% off your meal.
I think that's what they do.
"Just FYI, real seafood offers a fifty percent discount, not a free meal."
That might be true if you go alone, but if you go with another person they will take off 50% of your total food bill including appetizers between the two of you.My wife and I go for each of our birthdays and we received about a 35 dollar discount off of our total food bill for my wife's birthday. That was more than the price of her dinner. She also got a free dessert.I think it is the best deal in town.If you go with three people they will take off one third of the total food bill for all three people. If you go with four people they will take off 1/4 of the total food bill.(and so on and so on)If you go with at least two people it is definitely a free meal and then some.

Our birthday freebie list includes Real Seafood & Mancy's Italian. Ahmed's used to give us the b'day discount for three days before or after the birthday, so it's possible to hit up more than one spot. But I would call to see if they still honor that time period.
Really? A free meal on your birthday? I could see if you're a frequent visitor to the same place, but walking in off the street and wanting a free birthday meal is cheezy.

I'd assume that restaurants who choose to offer a birthday meal promotion use it as a publicity tool.
Most of the time the birthday person will likely come in with at least one other person who is paying for a meal.
If the establishment serves alcohol, the birthday person may order and pay for a drink. And, if the birthday person indulges in a drink or two, odds are that the other guests at the table will as well.
Finally, if the promotion draws in new customers (the birthday person and/or guests), there's a chance of repeat business that you might not have otherwise had.
Yeah, at Ahmed's we've seen many large family groups, multigenerational, adults drinking adult beverages, celebrating the birthday of the matriarch or patriarch. Overall, the table is getting one meal at 85% off (what a thrill!) but all the kids have soft drinks and everyone ordered an entree. Part of the business plan.
The original post had me believing he was looking for a free meal for himself. Who asks for a free meal on their birthday? Usually it's the friend, or loved one that sets it up.
I get the promotion/business end of it.
I don't like it when they sing (in any language and whether or not they are standing on chairs, which reminds me of Hooters.)
Hockeypuck, not that it any of your business, but my mom always insists on taking me and my wife out on birthdays, and paying for it. She always wants us to choose and says "anywhere you want to go". Im just trying to think of places that'd ease her burden. Sorry if that upsets you so and that you think im cheesy.
you posted-What restaurant in the area will feed me for nothin??
That is all I had to go on. I do not know you, your family, or what your purpose was other than that line right there. Your last 2 sentences in this thread explained everything much, much better than your original post.
I do see what you did there with the "hockeyfan" switch to "hockeypuck". That is so creative.
We celebrated my husband's 81st. birthday at a restaurant that gives a free meal. We had 5 people and the bill with tip was over $150.00. We will be returning the 24th of this month for my free dinner with the same crowd. I believe it is great advertising since the food is delicious. We go at other times for special occasions also.
My explanation or lack thereof resulted in no helpful input on your behalf, so what difference? if you dont like a post, do what most other people do and scroll down or forget about it.
Now, now ... let's be nice to Billy. It's his birthday!

Get over yourself. You posted about wanting free grub. I posted that I thought it was cheezy. You posted again explaining fully what your intent was. Simply put, I agree that your intent is not cheezy. You're looking to save your family a buck. Nice gesture. I have no problems with you or your purpose with your post once I knew what you were looking to save a few bucks and not simply "mooch".
My follow up post did nothing to insult you or criticize you other than comment on the fact you called me hockeypuck. Big deal.
You want helpful input? Here it is. Quit trying to get a free birthday meal. If it really matters financially whether you can or can't afford dinner based on one meal, you should probably stay at home. Besides, if it's your mother's treat, how could you pass up a home cooked meal?
