New restaurant - Monroe St, near Target (old Charlie's location)

Drove by the old Charlie's restaurant across from Target today. The one that was a short-lived Pat & Dandy's after Charlie's closed.

Apparently a new restaurant has opened there. I believe the sign said the name is Mango, and that it has "Asian cuisine." It didn't specify what type of Asian cuisine, from what I could tell.

Since that location is so close to Sakura, I wonder if that's how the rumor got started about a Vietnamese place opening over there?

I tried searching for some information, but could only find results that related to The Mango Tree.

Anyone else heard of this place?

Is it open? Last weekend I thought it looked like they were doing construction.

Drove by last night and noticed it too. They had a big sign saying "Now Open". Might have to check it out this weekend...

Okay, because I was bored and wanted to enjoy this gorgeous weather, I walked across the street on picked up one of Amango's menus. They're open Wed-Mon, 10-10 and closed on Tuesday.

They have sixteen kinds of Pho (beef noodle soup), eggrolls, spring rolls, calamari, crab rangoon, several rice vermicelli dishes, seventeen rice dishes, stir-fries (kung pao, cashew, almond, sesame, sweet and sour, orange, pepper and general in chicken, beef and shrimp), something call Hu Tieu and Mi (maybe soft noodles?), three sandwiches and several "specialities" including mussels sauteed in spicy basil sauce and Korean ribs. As for drinks, they have several bubble teas and smoothies including avocado and something call jackfruit. They have Vietnamese iced coffee but I wonder if they have this in hot. The one at the Saigon Bistro was to die for.

I only saw one couple there and thinking I may check it out soon. I hope it works out. Sadly, the decor is reminiscent of Charlie's.

I meant to add that the average price for entrees is about eight bucks. I have no idea if the place is any good. I am interested in people's reviews and checking the place out myself.

Amango, the new Vietnamese place on Monroe St. is wonderful! The veggies are very fresh and the meat has no gristle. The presentation on real plates and bowls is very pleasing. I would like to hear from the Pho and Kho experts. NOTE: Not open in Mondays.

yeah, the monday thing surprised me. we went there last monday and were bummed to see it closed. we went back on tuesday....

and we enjoyed it, but personally i found the pho to lack the amount of meat & veggies that is offered at pho viet nam. i also felt like the broth was a bit under-seasoned. that said... their bahn mi is amazing!

i threw a review up on yelp last week http://www.yelp.com/biz/amango-restaurant-toledo-2

You have to admit that the quality of the food and atmosphere is far superior compared to Wish Bone.

jnj do you work there?

No, I just appreciate being served food on nice tableware. Wish Bone is not a place to go to dine.

I really like Pho Viet Nam. I think there is more than enough room in Toledo for two vietnamese restaurants. heck, I'd take five.

I'm looking forward to giving them a go! Upso, I'm very Vietnamese-cuisine-challenged, so I did a search on the term "bahn mi" to see what it is. I found this link and became instantaneously hungry!
