Police sitting at / shutting down lagrange?

It was the weirdest thing yesterday...
I was taking my dishwasher home from the restaurant (he lives at lagrange near central. yikes!)

and right around here: http://g.co/maps/2aavs

there was a police car, blocking off the road (the car was parked right in the middle of the road, sideways)
with orange barrels and caution tape

there was no indication that there were any severe pot holes or damage to the road, and there was only one cop car
(the cop seemed to be sleeping)

this was around 3pm yesterday.

What was particularly odd about it, was that there was no indication as to where to detour, and the way the cop was blocking the road... traffic had no turn-around or way to do an easy u-turn.

any ideas what they were trying to accomplish?

I was taking my dishwasher home from the restaurant...

I envisioned you loading a dishwasher into the bed of a pickup truck - seems like a lot of trouble just to wash a few dishes.

I think LC has found a new, creative way to say "So what?".

I read it the same way you were taking an actual dishwasher home. I chuckled and thought "random"
LOL
I couldn't help you on this subject...not familiar with the area

...So I was driving home my friend, who is a Food Delivery System Recovery and Sanitation Technician...

What were the police doing?
The new Camera Replacing Actual Police (CRAP) plan isn't ready, so they need to point the camera in the cruiser toward whatever they are trying to monitor.
