Freeze Tonight!

I'm probably preaching to the choir but..................

If you've any tender plants in the ground get them covered. Move plants in pots indoors. As general rule, protect any potted plants from temperatures below 40. The plant wont freeze but will "stall" and take a long time to recover. Some plants, like the Euphorbia "Diamond Frost, a common filler plant in containers, will stall and not resume growth at all.

I'm even bringing in my container tree roses. With four of them, the garage looks like a forest.

Most of you, I'm sure, know our last frost date is May 15th.

Crossing my fingers... I have mostly avoided the temptation to start planting early, but I did go out on a limb with some marigold seeds 10 days ago or so that are starting to sprout. Over the years I have fared well with using Mother's Day as a "start planting" date, but holland correctly notes that we do not get the true all-clear on freezes until mid-May in this area.
