Congratulations to the City Forestry Department

http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2012/05/04/City-branches-out-as-it-replenishes-the-trees-in-Toledo.html

I don't live in the city, but like a whole lot of other folks I spend a lot time in the city or driving through. The greening of an urban environment is a great thing. The benefits to the climate, the overall environment and to people's psyches are well documented. It will be wonderful to watch these trees achieve maturity. Hats off too for avoiding a monoculture planting.

Places like Sylvania could have a serous problem with all their maple trees, which are a favorite food of the Asian Longhorned Beetle, although the ALB isn't as picky as the Emerald Ash borer. If maples aren't around it has little trouble finding an alternate food source.

But I digress. Well done City of Toledo!
