Must Be a Registered Democrat to Apply

Found this on my lunch break and thought you all might get a kick out of it.

"Must be a registered Democrat." I am a democrat, however I find that funny yet curiously a form of discrimination.

The second listed position is only for a registered Republican. This undoubtedly reflects the Board's mandate to maintain at least the appearance of partiality by balancing the two parties. Maggie T. could give a more detailed explanation of how this works.

If you ask me, though, they should pick independents for the Board of elections if we are forced to keep the political duopoly, since there is less likelihood that an independent would work on a given party's behalf. Of course, God forbid that ballot access should be easier to allow a greater variety of political parties from which to choose, but that would be crazy-talk.

The Team Leader position in the ad requires the applicant to be a registered Republican :)

When I was a registered Republican I worked most elections. When I no longer was affiliated with either party I became ineligible to work on elections. The Board of Elections has to hire either R or D workers.

I should apply.

OH WAIT I AM AN UNREGISTERED INDEPENDENT, TOO BAD FOR ME.

I should apply.

OH WAIT I AM AN IDIOT, SO I'M RUNNING FOR OFFICE

Time to begin backing up your campaign promises, weasel.

That ad is a hoot. The Moonbat gets more pay, but also has to deal with the stress, idiots and ulcers that will crop up when the network won't connect, the server takes a dump or a recurrent error involving the words 'data' and 'disk' pops up surrounded by an archaic environment.

The Wingnut gets less pay but fewer headaches, because who, after all, would be foolish enough to keep anything more important than vegetarian soup recipes on an MS-Access database. Of course, the Wingnut has the added joys of working with Crystal Reports, but at least most of the problems are known.

I should apply, but my heart wouldn't take the strain.

Really? Which office?

Mayor of Toledo. If you would actually run for the office of Mayor, I'd support your campaign.

If you won, the shear entertainment value alone would put Toledo on the map. Just keep the rest of the government (like the complete idiots on city council) from causing the city to hemorrhage and die of bankruptcy would put you head and shoulders above city leadership for the last 25 years.

Should you actually improve the city... I don't know. You'd have to put in another term, then run for Governor of Ohio or something.

What campaign promises? To make campaign promises I'd actually have to have a campaign, you know. And like, live in Toledo. As I said in the other thread, "How many people would vote Anonymous Coward if I moved inside city limits and ran as an independent?"

Nice missing the conditional "if" statement. You're a shining example of logical thought and consistency.

You don't need any campaign promises to run. Someone just needs to say you've made campaign promises. See? You don't need to live within the city limits either, and I don't care if you run as an independent. No one will believe you're an independent anyway; each side will accuse the other of planting you in the race to steal votes.

How about it?

And just ignore the conditional "if" mistake. We're in campaign mode here, so these things no longer matter.

The city going bankrupt would be a good thing. It would give them a chance to be free from horrible contacts and would flush all the rats out of the system.

TROLL! TROLL IN THE FORUM!

You got caught out and you're backpedaling so fast that you could power the city if they put you on a bike hooked up to a generator.

TROLL! Quick, where is he? I'll take care of him!
