Garden Road Suicide Driver Post Gone?

While I was posting OhioKimono's topic disappeared. First time I've ever seen an entire post go down the rabbit hole. Was it the virus attached or was it the gritty details?

It does appear to be gone.

The original link was still in my browser history, but when I clicked on it the link was invalid.

Clearly some people felt that the topic was a bit "sensitive" for their own viewing pleasure and dictated the direction of censorship.

If you people were so freaking concerned about "sensitivity" issues, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE REPORTER ALL UP IN SOMEONE FACE ASKING THEM "HOW DO YOU FEEL?" after being informed about someone's demise.

To me, THAT is more insulting than reporting on FACTS of an incident a fellow blogger came upon.

Facts? Facts can be verified. As far as I could tell yesterday the post was from some guy who says he spoke to a girlfriend of the driver. Proof? None. Pictures of the scene prove the accident happened, that's it. Good call on the administrator's part to pull the story until it is backed up with facts.

do what every other media outlet does, start off with "Alledgedly" and you'll be fine.

Considering the CREDIBILITY of the poster, Fred, I'm finding myself more apt to rely on OhioKimono's account than "The Media".

What, because an "alleged" reporter with some TV, Radio or Newspaper outlet can provide more accurate findings? Sorry, but that too means squat.

Trust me, Fred, with all that is broadcast these days in the "Media", the shimmering glow of "assurance in reporting facts" is dimming.

My apologies, Fred.

After thoroughly scouring the local media web sites for information concerning this alleged incident, it appears that it never happened.

There is nothing anywhere.

Doesn't go into an extreme level of detail, but it does reference the suicide attempt...

Brian:

I posted a handful of comments on the thread and never saw anyone advocating censorship. What I did suggest was that the OP self-censor for fear that they might make themselves of a libel suit, whether one was justified or not. The best rule of thumb is, "If you didn't see or hear it personally, don't repeat it." If you do, you risk litigation. That may not be fair, but it is reality.

I personally requested that it be deleted.

Rhetoric,

Thanks for the clarification.

I only was able to read the thread when the article was removed and the photos were there and OP's statement about talking to the girlfriend about an alleged crime that actually allegedly did not happen.

I was also under the impression, from the posts in the thread, that this woman died based on a post that said something about "talking about the dead".

Did she die? I know she was responsive in the hospital after the accident.

Isn't it a bit odd that some prefer police and media reporting that is often inaccurate, incomplete or misleading to a "first on the scene" unbiased account?

The only problem I had with the post was the computer virus I got from clicking on the first photo.

I just found it in poor taste that someone confided in her with their story and she posted it out on the internet. With pictures.

Talking publicly before a large public event is not what I would define as private.

If you don't want it repeated, don't shout it in a crowded room.

There was no indication of confidentiality here. Whatever was told was not said in confidence, nor was there any assurance that this would be kept confidential. It was a set of photos and a story, no more nor less.
