Fans of that stuff, get thee hence to the old Acme Power Plant on Front Street at the Marina. They've demolished the backside of the building, and you can see straight through all the rooms to the beautiful arched windows on the front side. Guys with welding torches are removing pieces of metal at the roof level. I saw several folks parked there, eating lunch. It's quite an interesting show. If you like that sort of thing.

Already been there several times over the past few years. Cant get close enough to really do anything cool.
Well I think viola is saying that it's a bit more opened up now than it has been. I think, anyway, since they're tearing it down.
I wish they would let us get closer....or that security wasnt so tight there. I've tried to get closer many times :(
it's dead on the weekends. was just there on sunday and there wasn't a soul in sight
I've watched that thing get taken apart for 2 years now. I've never seen a project take so long. Spray water on it and collapse it. They've already just about finished taking down the school on Sylvania behind Bigz.
I'm always afraid that smoke stack is going to fall on me when I drive down there.
Upso, I mostly worry about security in the forms of cameras and such...
i really doubt the underfunded marina district is running cameras out there
My dad worked at that power plant when I was very small. We have a photo of him in his hard hat.
FYI - I just got access to this site legally to do a photoshoot. Photos will come in a week or so. I did get some shots today from outside the fence and will post them in a separate thread that I'll build upon.
