That's significant. You don't play Cirque by being second best.

Put me down for some blues music.

The parking lots at the Mercy building on Jefferson are within reasonable walking distance to the OWE.

(I believe they are painting the stairwells in the garage this weekend, but the elevators are still supposed to be operational.)

Had a great time at festive. The kids loved the parade. Couple of observations - wish there was more food choices and does anyone in the OWE pick up after their dog? There was a lot of dog shit around and we had to move a couple of times to find a crap free spot to set up blanket on Robinwood.

What kind of food would you like to have we? And did you make it deep into the neighborhood? There were vendors at the arboretum

As for the poop? There are a LOT of dogs in the OWE. Sadly some people do not curb their dogs... But it's not a huge problem. Sounds like you just found a bad spot.

Glad you liked the parade!!! :)

We had a great time, loved the Botigans artist display in front of the museum.

We took some friends of ours who were in from Kentucky, they seemed to really enjoy it. The only off handed comment I got was "That was really nice but man there was a lot of gayness. Is it always that way?". I laughed so hard snot came out my nose and answered with "to each their own and didn't your wife buy a bunch of their crafts?"

I just want to say that this was my first OWE fest, even though I've lived downtown for nearly 5 years. Had a wonderful time, meet some really awesome people and can't wait for next year!

Upso, I am SO GLAD you captured the Detroit Party Marching Band! I had the pleasure of hanging out with a couple of their guys (Tim and Steve-0) later in the day, and they were delightful. Always great to have them down here.

^^ They are AWESOME! Scrolling back through the entertainment schedule, I didn't see them listed. If I know they're coming again next year, I'll show up to see them. I had to work all weekend this time :-(

gamegrrl, i didn't shoot the video but i'm glad to pass it along!
viola, I don't think they were an official thing. It's their second year in the festival, and they seemed to be more of a "pop up" show... just showing up to people's houses and playing a song or two. they also were in the parade.

completely awesome group of people. so much fun to watch them perform.

They LOVE LOVE LOVE Toledo! The guys were telling me that the OWE Fest has become a favorite gig for them.

Constructive criticism maybe? The OWE festival was on the list of things to check out, girlfriend and I went Saturday around 1:30. Parking wasn't an issue, more than happy to donate $5.

Walked up and down Scottwood/Robinwood looking for the festival atmosphere, felt more like a commiunity garage sale. Found the beer garden, but felt like going home. Maybe we went at a bad time, and didn't know where to be at what time and what was going on where....but for two first timers on a Saturday afternoon it came across as a community garage sale.

When I was a first-timer, I'm SO glad I saw the parade! Although we haven't been in a couple of years, I would go again to catch the parade, then get some food at the food plaza, then see about biking/walking around to garage sales. IMHO, the parade sets the tone for everything else. And it's early in the day: quite often, the festival weekend is the first blisteringly hot day of summer and that saps away my good humor.

Thank you Bruno. I was beginning to think I was the only one that doesn't get it. I enjoy the home tours and the music, but having to waddle through crap being sold by hippies to find the musicians is a big turn-off. I can do without the political activist and being approached to sign another useless petition too.

As far as best festival in town, well, my family enjoys the Crosby Festical for the Arts much more.

I think this Festival is just not your style because everything you described is what the OWE Fest is.

Personally I like wading through the hippies.
