Name one Lutheran, who has killed American soldiers and hung their corpses from a bridge . Name one Baptist, who has cut the head off of a journalist. Name one Church of Nazarene member, who has flown a jet into a building .When liberals run out of lame brained excuses for their ignorance,"it's every one does it" ?!
Shallowness and generalizations from liberal men in Toledo, are a laugh fest and should be an event held annually and shown Worldwide on TV .
Or in other words "HERP DERP I AM BRAINWASHED AND WILL BLAME LIBERALS FOR EVERYTHING."
I never get tired of watching people blame liberals for everything and then praise Jesus, who got nailed to a cross for being a dangerous liberal threat.
Let me point out why you dumbfucks who bleat "LIBERALS!" and then claim to be best buddies with Jesus are hypocrites who are likely to end up in the Big Bad Burning Place:
1) Jesus was pro-peace (Matt 5:9, 5:39, 5:44). Whereas you dumbfucks were all "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" any time a Republican president went to war and relentlessly called anyone who was against going to war an America-hating LIBERAL.
2) Jesus was pro-separation of church and state and pro-taxation (Matt 22:21). But you fuckheads lose your shit any time someone dares question Ten Commandments or other Christian displays on public grounds... it's fine to spend government money on Christian God, but HEAVEN FORBID the church (or apparently its followers, to judge by the Teabaggers) be taxed.
Do I need to continue or are you all going to start (what do I mean, "start"? I should say "continue") with the usual "AnonymousCoward is such a meanie doo-doo head for using coarse language and he has no right to point out what big hypocrites we are and we're just going to ignore everything he has to say because obviously he's a dirty pinko commie liberal socialist Obama ass-kisser and we're too stupid and brainwashed to spend time questioning what mommy, daddy, conservative media, the rich people who own the media, and the church spoon-fed us all our lives" stuff?
I agree with much of your post but the taxation issue in Matt 22:21 is just a representation of to not be so focused on worldly matters and to be more heavenly minded. To not be to wrapped up in the carnal and forget the spiritual.
Paul also understood taxes are part of living in a civil society in Romans 13:6-7
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
BTW when it comes to taxation the Bible also says that Government shouldn't press the people to hard with taxes, speaking specifically of the "Year of Jubilee" where the taxes their foot of the tax pedal and the debts of the poor are forgiven (Leviticus 25).
It also speaks of greedy governments that take the wealth of the people for waste and pride (crony capitalism) where those connected to the King (government) are enriched while the people suffer:
1 Samuel 8:10-18
10 And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked of him a king.
11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.
What you make with your own two hands is yours, you should not be punished for working hard “He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. (1 Cor 3:8)
“To impose a fine on a righteous man is not good, nor to strike the noble for their uprightness” (Prov 17:26)
Here is one for the "Jesus Occupiers" “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” (Lev 19:15)
Ohh another for the "Jesus Occupiers" who preach the death tax “The prince shall not take any of the inheritance of the people, thrusting them out of their property. He shall give his sons their inheritance out of his own property, so that none of my people shall be scattered from his property” (Ezek 46:18)
And if you want to go all Biblical about the tax rate (which I'm not arguing in this post)... In the Old Testament the Israelites were required to tithe 10% of their earnings to support the Levites, which essentially you could think of as their governing body. (Deut 14:22-23; Lev 27:30-32 among many others). This was a flat rate for every citizen, rich or poor. It is also the true definition of fair. As a simplified example, you can compare two people. The first person earns $20,000 a year, the second $200,000. If the tax rate was indeed 10%, person A would pay $2,000 in taxes while person B would pay $20,000 in taxes. So the relatively rich guy pays 10 times the amount of taxes as the poor guy, but it is still fair because the rate is the same. Taking this into consideration I believe that some form of Flat Tax would be Biblically supported. That does not necessarily mean that the tax rate should be set exactly at 10%, but rather we should use God’s system as a pattern for what we do.
Many Christians would support more taxes if it really went to improving education (not teacher's pensions) and helping people, but generational welfare that gives those trapped in it little hope and popping up drone bases around the world, and building roads and factories in Afghanistan do not help the poor of our country.
Yes fake Conservatives like Mitt Romney are not the voice of the Bible, but to pretend the Book is full of "OH YES GET THEM TAX DOLLARS" is also a misstatement.
