Holy Toledo. I seem to recall that Carty had that exact same outfit.

I'm so glad we have a mayor like him ... really! It's about damn time. It's no wonder he made an impression in China.

Though he probably left that particular outfit at home, I'm guessing

You mean you like having a mayor who goes out in public looking like he is on his way to a leather bar?

I don't mind a mayor who dresses for the occasion. So if this is what he puts on when he rides his motorcycle to a local place on a hot night, I think it works.
Now if he showed up to council in wearing this outfit, it would be completely inappropriate.
I also like the fact that Bell doesn't really care what any of us think about the way he dresses when he's out on the town...

Maggie I totally agree with you

I am hoping he has multiple versions of that outfir, Because I see him in it all the time at various bar/restaurants around town. Mayor Bell is awesome for the City of Toledo and has made a lot of tough decisions that others would have danced around.

Dittos, Maggie.
I'll have to dig up the photo from last year's Polish Festival and hopefully figure out how to post it here. We met up with the Mayor as we were leaving. With the exception of skin color, he and I looked like twins. We were both wearing the exact same shirt, a straw hat and sunglasses. Pretty funny.
I think I agree with Maggie on this as well.
The outfit certainly isn't my style, but as long as he dresses for business at City Hall then I'm OK with it.
I am also glad that Mayor Bell feels free to hit the town in his own version of comfortable, but he may suffer from the same "I am not as young as I think I am" disorder my wife warns me about from time to time.

Intentionally holed jeans are the gateway to chaps.
You gotta be careful... You can aim for Doobie Brothers and veer into Village People without realizing.

I have also been diagnosed with such condition.
Band shirts after 30 is probley a "no no" even if it is a sweet Wilco shirt I've had for over a decade and even if it is just worn around the house.

My husband pushes the limit with some of that stuff as well. For now, he can get away with it in his 30s, since he's still pretty hot (with all his hair even!) and in good shape.
I think I'm going to have to give him a nudge when he crosses the 40 threshold though. LOL

Mayor Bell: been had leather chaps.

After reading this thread, now I'm secretly hoping to turn on the City Council meetings and see an all-leather-clad Council.
<shudder>
Toledo needs publicity....right?

Seriously, I don't mind what he wears at the events he's been seen at.
I think most of the time, the Mayor looks pretty good. I guess I just think a 57 year old mayor dressing like he's a Hell's Angel is a little silly.
Average age of Hell's Angels is probably 62, so he's a little on the young side ;-)
