I think those things have a wireless router built in. Are you using their wireless or do you have a router connected to their box? If you have your own router, you might want to try that wireless router connected behind their router/dvr.
Try changing the channel to 11 and the channel bandwidth (wireless advanced) to only 20 MHz. Also, if your SSID has a space or special character, try changing it to one word.
Are you actually losing connection to the router only or internet completly? It is not normal to lose connection like that. In addition to jashansen suggestion You may want to check modem levels by typing in your browser 192.168.100.1 the status page will have some power levels listed. Pay attention to the downstream fequencies they should all be above 0 dBmv and the Upstreams should ideally be in the 40's dBmv if not have Buckeye send a tech out.
We have the new system and don't have this problem. Many things about the system we don't like and we have to do certain things to get our audio or video to come on.

So far, so good on the channel switch. Yay!
Now if they will just roll out the next bundle of fixes so that the VPN/tunneling issue is fixed. I need VPN access desperately.
I haven't had this problem yet with mine but thanks for the heads up on a fix if it happens!

Just wondered out loud, how many channels are there on routers and how many neighbors are using the same one.

typically there are 11 channels. Most default to channel 6. moving it away from the masses will reduce possible interference. There are apps available that monitor wifi frequency that will graph the signal strenths and channels being used.
