Blandard Street School - Findlay Ohio (Info needed, photos)

So....in Findlay Ohio there sits a vacant little brick school house. It needs to be demolished. I have looked around online, and cant find much about it beyond the year build, closed, etc. Does anyone have personal stories about this location they can share...? I'd like to feature a few stories about this sad little location on my blog.

I would be careful of asbestos in an older school building like that as I doubt any abatement work was done.

Ohiokimono...you should take a trip to Tiffin (50 minutes via the Turnpike). There is a gorgeous school on East Market Street that was the old high school. It is begging to be rehabbed. However, it is slowly deteriorating.

ROAD TRIP! This seems like just the perfect place for me to break in the new hard hat and head lamp.

Thanks Dappling!

That building is cool...built in 1892...I wish Tiffin University or Heidelberg College would buy it. Should be safe(er) too. Probably no squatters in there.

The Blanchard Street School was also known as the Huber School. The following website suggests a construction date of 1887. The Huber School later served as the district's administrative headquarters.

Old school buildings are being demolished all over NW Ohio - two former BG high school buildings, the former Fremont Jr./Hi school - many of the prominent buildings in the center of their respective towns, are in the process of being demolished right now. Thank you for these photos - all of these beautiful buildings should be saved - by film or reuse.

Its truly sad that some of these buildings lasted 50-100 years and only through neglect are falling apart, The cost to repair some of them makes it not worth it unfortunately. I was amused when
Ii heard that some of the new buildings TPS had built not so long ago had leaking roofs already, yet they had torn down some older buildings that could have been fixed up and were so soundly built could easily have lasted another 50 years.
