Stolen Story

I blog on another site and have a few people that live in Toledo that also blog there. One of them posted this story the other day:

Coming back from Kroger today I saw an interesting event. (Tracy, it was on Tremainsville by the post office at Wernert's Corners). There was this young gentleman (hood rat) with oversize shorts below his butt cheeks and his neon blue boxers showing. The car in front of me slowed and the passenger yelled something. Hood Rat shouted back the f-word and flipped them the bird. When he turned to do this I noticed his shorts were so low they were below his boy parts in the front. (But where else would boy parts be if not in the front?)

All of a sudden the car in front of me slammed on the brakes and three guys got out and headed toward Hood Rat. Being a safety minded citizen, I stopped as to not endanger those exiting the car. (Yeah sure, I'm just downright nosey.) They went up to Hood Rat and a few words were exchanged. Then the three wrested him to the ground, stripped him of his shirt, shoes, shorts and boxers. They dumped the contents of his pockets on the sidewalk, threw his shoes into the bushes and drove off with his clothes, leaving him laying there butt naked.

OK, I don't condone violence and forcing someone else to conform to whatever your personal standards are and what the three did was wrong, At first it was funny. Not funny enough that I didn't get their license plate number and call a description of them and their car to 911 on my cell phone. Not funny enough that I didn't get out after they left and give their victim the blanket I used when taking the dog to the groomers. Not funny enough that I didn't insist he sit in my air-conditioned car until they arrived.

....of all the times to not have a camera. Now this is a crime in action worth taking photos of...or not depending on what the guy looked like. Geez.

/sarcasm

tlm, you have earned a jewel for your crown in heaven. No "family jewel" jokes please. Seriously, thanks for being a good Samaritan. Many would have laughed and walked away ... or filmed it for youtube purposes.

I think most people are tired of having to look at these guys walking around with their drawers showing. It's a fad that has long outlived any initial humor or coolness it may have had for a few people.

Great story btw.

Viola, I wish it had been me, but no it was a fellow blogger who also happens to live in the area. I don't know her real name or where she lives exactly but she's a cool chick who does the right thing.

I would hope that most people simply don't care how other people dress.

^^ If that was true, the People of Walmart website wouldn't exist.

^^^On the flip side, neither would fashion magazines, websites, Style network TV, Victoria's Secret modeling shows, etc...

I hope you're both joking and can actually see the difference given the context of the comment.

Yes, I do realize there's a difference between "caring about what people wear" in the sense of poking fun (like the People of Walmart website, or that old guy who had the Pants on the Ground song a few years ago) vs. giving someone a beat down on the street because you don't like how he's wearing his pants.

I would contend that there's a difference between having a laugh at somebody's expense and being "tired of having to look" at somebody, for that matter.

Cry about it.

Oh, so you pull the pants down off the other guy. I had it all wrong. When I would see a crime, I usually ran out of my vehicle, took off my pants and ran around screaming "Justice for all" "Justice for all". Now I get what I was doing wrong.

How about a link to the story?

Sorry MadJack, it's a personal blog and I don't want to invade her privacy by linking over to it as this was only a part of the blog. I told her where I was copying it in case she wants to lurk.

I think that it is interesting that the original blogger would refer to someone as a Hood Rat and in the same entry report her good Samaritan actions with him. She, of course, has a right to label anonymous people whatever she wants. I am pointing it out because it needed to be. It pleases me that the young gentleman was well received in her car while they waited for the police.
