From today's Blade:
Off-duty officer shoots, kills suspect after attempted robbery
BLADE STAFF
An off-duty Walbridge police officer shot and killed a man who attempted to rob the officer in the early morning hours Saturday in West Toledo.
Toledo Police said the officer and a friend were walking to the friend’s home around 2:30 a.m.
Travis K. Johnson, 21, confronted them at gunpoint near Berkshire Place and Upton Avenue, demanding money, according to police.
The officer pulled his weapon and fired, striking Johnson at least once.
Johnson died at the scene, police said.
Now, I'm all for cops (and other law abiding citizens) defending themselves with deadly force if in the above situation. But there has got to be more to the story. 99% of people walking around at 2:30 AM have recently consumed alcohol. Can anyone with a CCW confirm if you are able to consume alcohol while carrying a firearm?
And I read somewhere else that the officer in question has been on the force for less than 2 years. What say you, TTers?
