Just drove through Heatherdowns construction. I could use an anonymouscoward word to describe the ordeal.

The money, a mixture of grants and loans, will be used to fund 12 projects in 2013...

Is the city road repair budget simply non-exisitent? Do we just get loans from the state now for everything?

<sigh>

How is it that every government says that it is broke yet it seems get grants, loans, etc.?
Let's wipe the slate clean and eliminate all these grants, etc. and get back to government paying for what we actually need.
I know, I know, fantasy thought.

The city road repair budget is non-existent because we keep raiding those "set aside" funds for things they were never intended to pay for.

And, don't forget, we, the voters (well, you, the voters - I voted against it) gave the city the authority to do this a few years back.

Funny you should say that. I was through there the other day and went totally Linecrosser at the idiot drivers AND the road crews, calling them stupid liberal moonbats and that their lazy union asses should get out of my way....

How about we have a referendum that requires the states and Feds to put up a website that breaks down exactly how much money goes into the pot and what percent or portion of what goes where, just like the legislative fucks at the state and Federal level passed laws requiring the utilities, banks, insurers, health care, and so on to do on the bills we get? Seriously, we should have the ability to see "umpty million dollars collected from gasoline tax enacted per (bill number)", "portion of gasoline tax dollars allocated to State of Ohio (derived from number of miles of road in Ohio)", "portion of above allocated to Lucas County", "portion of above allocated to City of Toledo". You know, the sort of divvy-up that has only supposed to have happened for school funding in Ohio for the past 20 years or so? Not some "Senator Bignutz's Payback for Campaign Fundraising Boondoggle" or "Representative Asslicker's Bridge to Nowhere Constituency Butt-Kissing Project" earmarks.

I agree those who voted to use CIP funds to balance the budget never thought through to the long term consequences of this vote.

How can we be short on money as the magic "Casino money" is now flowing into our city coffers.
