Pizzapalooza 2012

Yesterday and today is the Pizzapalooza in Sylvania. Still time to go, in fact heading there after writing this.
It's located at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Road, Sylvania from 4pm till midnight tonight.

Seems fun, and a good way to test out local pizza places.

We went last night. It was a good time!

The kids keep trying to talk me into going again tonight, but I don't think we'll probably make it.

Have fun, INC! Hope there's a good band playing tonight.

Had a great time, and prices were good too. $1.50 a slice, or $2 for specialty. Especially good considering 1-2 slices of Pizzapopalis would fill you up. Man I loved their deep dish, Jets had a great BBQ chicken. Going to be stuffed till next week.

The music was a mix of oldies and country, which wasn't my thing but the band was still lively so enjoyed it. Couldn't believe how many people showed up. Will definitely go next year.

Curious who won #1 pizza too, votes had to be in by 8:30pm.

I was there Saturday night. Got in around 5:30 and it wasn't too crowded but by the time we left at 7:30 it was hopping. Was a lot of fun, and next year will be happy to be able to walk to events there. Had all the pizza except Pizza Hut. Was yummy.

So Amies got the most friends and family to go and vote?

After reading years of rave reviews, I finally tried Amie's a couple months ago and thought it was overrated. It reminded me a little of Original Gino's with the slightly thin crust and cheese out to the edge, only there were nasty pieces of tomato skin in the sauce (yuck) and the sauce tasted like ketchup. I don't understand how they are #1 when there are lots of better pies in town.

Have tried Amie's a few times - to be fair. IMHO mixman, you are correct - there are many far better pizzas to be had in this area.

Of course, the award was only comparing all of the pizzas that were available at Pizzapalooza, not every pizza place in town.

Friday night they announced the Judge's Choice award winners. I am drawing a complete blank on who the winners were for each category, but I'm sure the info is online somewhere.

Amazed Pizzapapalis didn't win. From the moment I arrived till when I left their line was stretching to the concession stand. Wish I had tried Amie's but was to full to get them all.
