I have tried to be open minded over the years however I keep coming back to Ginos Kozy Inn. I' had a love affair with JoJOs back n the 70s
Gino's original, Gino's Kozy Inn or Jo jos?

So what's the relationship, if any, between Gino's Original and Gino's Kozy Inn? I confess until I read this post, I'd never heard of Kozy Inn.
Gino's fan here.
I haven't had JoJo's since the early 90's. Maybe I should try again?

I know this is kind of off topic, but are there any wood-fired pizza places in Toledo?

edg1262000 - Both of these places are within an hour and twenty minutes in the Detroit suburbs. Two of my favorite pizza places in the Midwest.

Monday & Wednesday are half price pizza nights at JoJo's. Perfect time to give it a try. :)
Love Jo Jo's. The half price M&W can't be beat. Lived right down the street from the one on Monroe. Moved to Sylvania and was happy to see one in Mayberry.
I'm probably the only person in town who doesn't like Gino's (although the "other" Gino's over on Eastgate/Glendale isn't bad). I'd take Jojo's over them any day.
Of course I'd take The Village Idiot over either!

You're not alone. I dislike Gino's style of pizza and their sauce. It's too sweet for me.

There used to be family ties between the two different Ginos.Years ago two sisters started their own pizza businesses. Each one claiming that she had taught the other sister how to make pizza. One of them was on Monroe street and the other sister opened one on Broadway near South Street and then opened the Ginos Kozy Inn on Arlington.A few years later the one on Broadway closed and they opened the one on Eastgate. The so called original Ginos was sold off when the one sister retired or became to old to operate the business. The sister that ran the Kozy Inn and the Eastgate Ginos has since passed away, but her family has continued on with the business. So there were ties years ago,but only the locations on Eastgate and Arlington are still run by their original founding families. All the other Ginos across town are now owned by a different owner.
Another pizza place called Aimees on Central near McCord has quite similar pizza than does the Original Ginos. That is because the lady that started Aimees was married to one of the Original Ginos Pizza recent owners.I hope that I didn't confuse you too much.

For people who have had both Gino's, which one do you prefer? I've only had Original but everyone I talk to says Gino's Kozy/Eastgate is better.
1. Inky's. Actually better warmed-up the second day, when the grease and the crust become one.
2. Jo-Jo's, and I think the Monroe location is better for whatever reason.
3. Gino's on Monroe. I love their sauce; I order it with extra sauce.
Been eating the The Original Gino's for more than 40 years and it's better than the Kozy Inn. About 6-7 years ago, I worked 3 hours OT every day at MCO and usually got off about 5:30. This went on for about a year and at least once a month, the Hub would meet me at the Kozy Inn for dinner. We really loved their crust but they changed it along the way and we stopped going. We tried the one on Eastgate and didn't like that either, so it's Original for us from now on, we really love it. Plus, the Great Eastern store is 10 mins away, too easy. :)
I think the Ginos location at Great Eastern has the best pizza of all the other locations in our area.I wish I only lived ten minutes from there.
