For those of you who don't care for The Toledo Blade...

I have a very large bird. I've used everything from corncob bedding to kitty litter to rolls of clean newsprint and everything in between to line his gigantic cage.

For the sake of convenience, I have just subscribed to the Sunday Blade specifically to use for my feathered pal's cage bottom.

I know birds. I've bred them, handfed them and sold them. Paper is the best. Instead of paying for a subscription, just head to the nearest retirement community and ask for their old newspapers. People of that age group still prefer their news delivered old style.

I've bred, handfed and sold them, as well (Moluccan, Umbrella, Goffin cockatoos). I like paper the best, too, but in this case he has no access at all to the bottom of his cage, so it's just a matter of preference and convenience for me (regarding which I use).

I'm incredibly busy, and the most valuable resource I have is my time. It's worth it to me to have what I need dropped off at my doorstep once a week.

Now if you could only figure out a way to line the cage with WTOL's web site.

LOL! Frankly, I'm surprised there are still print versions of newspapers. I get all of my news online: It's convenient, and it's a lot easier to find the things that interest me.

Thanks for the excellent list links, Paul!

It isn't that I don't care for the Blade, I'm just disappointed by the lack of content these days due to budget cuts. I get the Blade everyday, have considered stopping it, but I don't want it to go away. I get a lot of news online but still like reading the paper. Am I showing my age? I also use it to line the parrot cage. I guess the fact that I delivered it for 4 years as a kid keeps my loyalty.

I enjoy reading the Blade on paper. I enjoy reusing the paper when I can. I also keep a few old editions in the car, in case I'm stuck killing time in a rainstorm, or eating lunch alone. We're lucky to have a high-quality paper in town.
