Well, it's no Disaster Transport, but it'll do...

LOL That ride was getting so bad. I remember when I was younger we used to go on it to wait in the AC but last times I've been there the A/C hasn't even been working lol

Just the sight of the photo makes me feel like I'm about to toss my cookies.

Cool people can get spit on and puked on when they enter the park.

I remember the first year Disaster Transport was open. Emotions [and expectations] were still pretty high after the triumph that was the Magnum. I recall watching people getting off of DT with very blank, confused looks on their faces. Like "what the hell was that?"
Back then, with the elaborate theming and all, DT meant a long wait in line, with a thematic build-up that tried to convince you the world had ended, then ultimately a coaster with less bang for the buck than even the Wildcat or Mine Ride. Good riddance.

The Space Spiral, on the other hand, I'll miss.

Cedar Point messed up BIG time on this new coaster. Although I'm excited to see a new coaster, I feel like they miss the mark. They built the wrong type of coaster. They already have the Raptor which is similar to this. They needed to build a coaster like X Flight where u lay down and feel like your flying. Everyone I know was hoping that was this coaster was going to be like X Flight. They should have made this a 350' coaster or something else new and fresh. Although it's a record breaking winged coaster, they could have done a much better job than this. Maybe next time they should take to social media to see what people really want.

I meant FireHawk at Kings Island, it was called X Flight at Six Flags Cleveland

Walleye419- they messed up BIG time? You think you're jumping the gun a bit? No one has rode the thing yet and it's going to be a record breaker. As far as listening to social media I'd say they are doing a good job since people have been begging for:

1. a new coaster
2. to open up the view to the beach
3. get rid of disaster transport
4. work on making Mean Streak not so bone jarring as it had become over the last several years.

Huge improvement to the park entrance, can't wait to experience the ride as it passes through the concrete sections of the new gate. Looks like it will give a head chopper sensation.

MrGlass, I couldn't agree with #4 more. The last time I rode the Mean Streak it damn near crippled me. My back hurt so much it kinda ruined the rest of my day.
It was like riding over a washboard.

And yet the Blue Streak--at least 30 years older--continues to give fun rides, not reasons to visit your chiropractor...

I understand wooden coasters are always going to be more bumpy than steel, but the Mean Streak is the worst...and I've ridden a lot of coasters all over the country.

Has it gotten worse? Or, was it always like that? I remember people making the same complaint about Mean Streak back when it first opened...

^^I think it's a combination of aging, both on the coaster and myself.

Mean Streak was rough when it opened (1991), but my then-17 year old body would say "Cool...let's ride again!"

Now, it says "Hey, wouldn't you rather get on Millenium Force? How 'bout we check out the Raptor? And put on some sunscreen, you old fart..."

From Wikipedia: Mean Streak

2012 Operating Season

Due to many rider complaints, prior to the 2012 operating season, Mean Streak's structure and track were reinforced. Many sections of track were replaced. As a result of this facelift, the ride is (according to many guests) much smoother and possibly the smoothest it's ever been. The photo booth and on-ride photos were restored and a Fast Lane line was added to the ride.

I remember it being very bumpy when it first opened.

Couldn't tell you if it's the same or worse now, because I stopped riding it that first season.

Mean Streak has become significantly worse overtime. If you want the full rundown you could read the forums on pointbuzz. The brief synopsis though is the layout is flawed. Due to the flawed layout they've put excessive trim braking all over to slow the speed as the initial speed design was tearing the coster apart at a greater than acceptable rate. The slower speed due to trim breaking out of the first hill you could equate to driving down a bumpy round slow and feeling every bump or just flooring it and not absorbing every bump.
So it was never a smooth ride initially, but it got to the point where you couldn't ride it without getting a headache. Supposedly significant improvements were done during last off season and at the start of the year it was running smoother but still with the trim breaking. No idea how the ride has held up through the season. It is one of those never ending battles. Even the Magnum is not as smooth as it once was.

It sucks because I love roller coasters, but I like to be able to move also, so I avoid the ones I know are rough.
Millenium force has always been a joy every time I rode it. Damn good ride, and smooth as glass.

Worst major coaster I ever rode was at Kings Island- Twilight Zone, Flight of Fear.
Rode it with the kids and even they agreed, you might just as well as had someone beat the crap out of you for 10 minutes, same effect. Terrible ride.

MrGlass419 I agree that it's an improvement at the front gate and it will be nice to have a new coaster thats next to the lake, but there is nothing special about this coaster. I'm sure I will enjoy it but I feel like the majority of coaster enthusiasts were hoping for a coaster that gives you a flying sensation. (Like FireHawk at Kings Island). I know at first the coaster will draw a crowd because it is new and it's been a few years since CP built a coaster, but once the newness wears off I feel like it will be draw crowds similar to Mantis(never a long wait cause nobody wants to ride). If they built a flying coaster it would be a big draw for years since CP never had a coaster like it. As for Disaster Transport, i enjoyed riding it because I could ride it with my kids, this new coaster won't allow me to do that for a few years.
