Ongoing problems at the BOE

while this article is interesting:
http://www.toledoblade.com/Politics/2012/08/14/Husted-steps-in-at-elections-board.html

What I think is even more interesting, is the comment on the article from a gentleman by the name of Tim Ide.
Sorry in advance if you've already read this email, but it was new / news to me!

I worked at The Board of Elections for 11 months and had unfettered access to all of the records, and I read them all.

I was never terminated, nor did I resign, technically I am still a temporary/seasonal employee, complete with an ID badge, but after I sent his email to every employee at the Board I was told they had no work for me, and I was sent home.

I know the Lucas County Board of Elections better than any other human alive.

I know what is wrong and in most cases how to fix it.

SENT JULY 3RD TO ALL EMPLOYEES AND BOARD MEMBERS.

This email is being sent with the intention of outlining severe problems currently ongoing at the Lucas County Board of Elections and notifying the Board, who has a statutory obligation to investigate allegations of violations of Ohio Election Law.

This email will only briefly address two alleged violations of Ohio Election Law.

1. On my 50th birthday, October 20th, 2011, after a meeting of the Board, Jon Stainbrook and Meghan Gallagher took me to lunch at San Marcos Taqueria on Broadway.

During the lunch the two of them began talking to me regarding the fact that I have over 2600 "friends" on Facebook.

They told me that they had a plan where they would set me up in the Director's office with a laptop computer so that I could sit and work on County time and payroll using Facebook to recruit people to join the Stainbrook faction of the Lucas County Republican Party.

I immediately objected to the idea and told them that I would not be able to have any part in their plan.

After our lunch Jon and Meghan drove me back to the office where I worked the rest of the day.

2. While employed at The Lucas County Board of Elections, Tom Morgan did actively work on Lucas County Republican Party business, in the office. I could overhear his conversations while he talked on the phone, and I immediately went over to Tom's desk and informed him that he cannot be conducting Lucas County Republican Party business while on County time and payroll.

After that incident Tom just basically stopped coming into the office, however when he submitted his time sheets to Meghan Gallagher for approval Meghan approved Tom's time sheets for 12 or more hours being worked each day.

When I questioned Meghan regarding the fact that Tom had not even come into the office for days and weeks on end, and that she approved his time sheets for 12 or more hours each day. Meghan told me that she was "to busy to check the time sheets and just signed them". Meghan explained that Tom was conducting Poll Worker training classes on those days.

On April 24th 2012 Jon Stainbrook, Meghan Gallagher, and Kelly Bensman came to my house at 11:00 PM and proceeded to yell at and berate me for not "being a real republican" for "not being on our team" that "I can't be trusted" that "You didn't even vote in the Primary" etc, etc, this abuse went on until 12:30 AM, when I finally told the three of them that I am done listening to their abuse and that I am cold and going inside. All of this 1.5 hour confrontation took place on the front porch of my house, since they refused to come inside.

During the April 24th confrontation I informed Jon Stainbrook and Meghan Gallagher that I was very uncomfortable with the information that I had, and that they had put me in a terrible position by the sheer fact of knowing what they were doing. I told them that I had no interest in being actively involved in the Lucas County Republican Party and no interest in being a part of committing any crimes, that I was only interested in fixing what I could at the Board of Elections and helping the voters in any way possible. Jon Stainbrook's response to my statement of wanting to help the voters of Lucas County was, and again I quote; "FUCK THE VOTERS, THIS IS ABOUT GETTING EVEN. YOU ARE LIVING IN A GODDAMN FANTASY WORLD TIM, FUCK THE VOTERS!"

Since that night I have been referred to by Meghan as a "time bomb" and I was left to sit with no work assigned to me for more than a month without one single word being said to me from either Jon or Meghan. I have been left to come and go as I please, come into work if and when I desire, and not if I don't, all with no repercussions.

These are just the first two major issues I am raising with the appropriate authorities and this email is serving to notify the Board that they have a duty to investigate violations of Ohio Election Law.

I will follow this email up with more information outlining additional Ethics Violations involving Jon Stainbrook and Meghan Gallagher.

Sincerely,

Timothy James Ide.

Happy Independence Day!

One last thing... On July 2nd I spoke with Ron R., Keila C. and Tony D. on the phone for about 45 minutes each. They all told me to go ahead and send the email tomorrow, July 3rd at 4:30 PM to BOE-ALL.

I did exactly what the three Board members told me to do.

On July 19th I met with 5 representatives from the Secretary of States office for 2 hours outlining what I know. Yesterday's letter from the Sos is partially the result of that meeting.

Alright here. Take it. Cry baby!
No. I'm gonna tell. Mommy!

Mommy's busy with Uncle Jack right now, kids. So if you two can't get along we're going to play "Houdini in the Closet with Duct Tape". Do you want to play the Houdini game?

No.

No.

Okay, then no more squabbling.

There are those of us that knew this was going to happen a long long time ago.

It truly befuddles me that many of the politicians in the community even allowed this idiot to even got as far as he has.

But I guess when you're "ALLEGEDLY" in John Block's pocket, politicans clearly re-evaluate their priorities.

Many of the higher echelon on the Republican Party dreaded this idiot, and now we're seeing the results of that dread. It was justified.

Knocking on doors at 11 at night.

That in itself is stupid.

Well done, Mr Ide. Now maybe things will finally get better.

Upso - thanks for copying the entire post by Tim Ide, because it appears that the Blade deleted them. I had seen the second post earlier today (about talking to three board members) but it made no sense alone. Now it makes sense.

I told displaced republicans years ago that they should stop fighting Stainbrook and let him have the party and the BoE because evetually they would lose and he'd win controll anyway and eventually he would hang himself and it appears that he finally has. Hopefully it's not too late.

It's takes more identification to get free school supplies than it does to vote in this country. lol

I've always been blown away that Stainbrook made it as far as he has.

When I was in high school he used to work the door at Frankies, back when Frankies and the Main Event actually drew crowds. A friend's older brother was friends with Stainbrook and he used to let us in when he worked the door. I thought it was really cool at the time as a 15 yr old being able to get into an 18 and over club, but I always found him creepy. I went away for college and moved back to Toledo 8 years later and couldn't believe it when I saw him in the paper as the chairman of the local Republican party.

"When I was in high school he used to work the door at Frankies, back when Frankies and the Main Event actually drew crowds."

I sort of remember those days. My friend played in Jon's band The Stain, so I mooched free admission and free beer at Frankie's and the Main Event back in the mid-90s. I used my buddy's camera to videotape The Stain shows (and other activity). Good times. The Stain played late on Thursday night a lot at Frankies, which meant a rough start to the Friday workday. Perfect for sysadmin duties. The best free concert I saw was Korn at the Main Event on Labor Day weekend in 1995. The Stain opened for them.

He is compared to some of the other people the Teabaggy faction want to see in there. Hell, according to some Teabaggers, "SAINT RONALDUS MAXIMUS REAGAN (praise be unto him)" was a liberal.

The sad thing, SensorG, is that you can't tell any more if these people are being SERIOUS or just sarcastic when they say things like "liberal Jon Stainbrook".

Oh well, this just jives with some other chatter I picked up from people in the know. The unfortunate thing, though, is that even the SoS isn't above putting party above the people and justice... he HAD to take over the BoE because if the election is anywhere near close, the Dems would actually find the spine to point out ALL the problems and irregularities and lack of planning at the LCBoE and blame it on the GOP and Husted for failing to monitor it. I just saw the piece in the TFP which probably didn't help Husted either.

In an era when web presence, information, and social media are all vitally important to any enterprise, that this piss-poor webpage is the best the Lucas County Republican Party (led by Jon Stainbrook) can muster is pathetic.

Shit, even the Amish could put something better together...

Roughly around the same time, I sometimes went to Frankie's to run sound for a band called "TopKat." I only remember Reed as far as mooching goes. I also remember always having to come early so I could fix the sound system.

I also remember the basement at Frankies.
Shhh....

Tim Ide did a excellect job this morning explaining and cataloging the problems at the LCBOE. In his opinion, based on conversations with John, Stainbrook is out to "get even" with the people who have done him wrong over the years. It's podcast at http://www.wspd.com/cc-common/podcast/single_page.html?podcast=Fred Sorry for the blatant plug.

Fred – you did fine with the interview, but I found his answers painful. It’s sad that the dress code and lunch rules are “odd”, but who really cares, with all the other stuff going on. . It’s like he had lawyered up or something.

@upso, you missed his final answer. He said that Stainbrook was using the BOE to "get even" with his percieved enemies. At one time Stainbrook was a Democrat but wasn't acceptec by the "powers that be" so he wants to pay tem back. Ide has known Stainbrook since the 70's and was at one time a member of the band. He knows what he's talking about.

Stainbrook is "getting them back" so well that almost anyone with a (D) next to their name in this town is automatically elected. Sweet....

What a fucking failure.

How does the state GOP not put pressure on to get him kicked to the curb and bring in someone without ties to the good 'ol boy network around here?

Why doesn't an Iott or Moody step up and take control of the local GOP. They were happy to try to go to the front of the line when it came to running for office, someone like that should step and show some leadership.

Look at the state of the GOP. The most prominent guy they have locally is JOE THE PLUMBER. There's literally NOBODY who wants to stick their neck out right now. Nobody wants to get tagged with the EPIC FAIL.

The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
