Ottawa River Road traffic blitz next two weeks

Watch for the airplanes in the sky and the patrol cars and motorcycle cops on the road during the next two weeks at the Ottawa River Road on and off ramp at I-75 during the next two weeks. The cops got a federal grant.

"Toledo police will be conducting a traffic blitz, starting today and running through Labor Day.
Officers will be working on random dates at various locations throughout the city, police said.
The traffic blitz is part of the “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” national campaign.
The overtime enforcement will be paid for by a federal grant."

How about pulling over all the lazy dumbasses who have only one brake light out of 3 working? And the ones with a headlight out? Those are safety issues and a valid reason to stop someone.

I was pulled over recently for a headlight being out.

The light burnout must have happened very shortly before I was pulled over, because I normally pay pretty close attention to that.

Anyhow...since it happened late at night, I suspect the police officer was using it as an excuse to pull me over & make sure I wasn't drunk. (I had not been drinking, for the record.)

Didn't even take my driver's license or insurance. Just told me that my light was out and to be sure to replace it.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't speed through there, but I do drive through there every day, and some of their revenue blitzes have been the most dangerous circuses that I have ever driven through. I think I'll come down Summit instead and skip the wild west action on the curve.

State troopers have been heavily patrolling Miami Street since the casino opened. I saw two cars stopped on Miami Street this afternoon near Navarre.
