Any restaurants serving smelt in toledo?

hey ToledoTalkers!

I just got back from a week in Grayling Michigan, where I discovered the delicious little smelt.
It's served up north deep-fried with tartar sauce.

I completely fell in love with the little buggers and am hoping to get a fix in t-town.

Any ideas?

The Kold Keg, out Airport Highway in Swanton has smelt on the menu. I either order the broasted chicken ( which is to die for) or the smelt. They make a decent margie as well. Watch out though, the margies are served in a short glass and pack a hefty punch.

Yep, smelt are good. Have done some dipping in years past. I have not seen them locally. BUT, the Ottawa Lake Sportsman's Club has a smelt dinner every April. All you can eat. It is a stag event with gambling too. Been to Spike's too. Golf Heaven up there.

Ahh..the smelt dinner at the OLSC. Husband sleeps on the couch after that one! :)

He gets smelt from the fish market on Telegraph.

Dad used to go up to the Upper Peninsula back in the day with a group of 15 other campers and slug beers and wade the rivers with hole-poked garbage cans going after these little delicacies!

Years later I found them on the menu at The Trout outside Oxford, England. I bet I looked like a pig working my way through my two orders, but I didn't care :)

There is an Italian restaurant on Woodville Road in Northwood that sells it as an appetizer. First time and greatly enjoyed it.

Will ask my girl for the name and get back with you.

I LOVE smelt. Would love to get it locally as well. In fact, it was fried smelt that got me hooked on Killian's. LOL..... Now, when I eat fried fish I have to have that beer (:
