Garbage Service Companies

I am also in Sylvania Twp.

Right now, we are with Waste Management. Mostly because of the ease of online billing/payment that they offer.

We previously used Countryside Disposal. The service was good, but remembering to mail a check every 3 months got to me after awhile.

(I know, I know...that sounds awful. But that's essentially why we switched. LOL)

I use Countryside Disposal. I have never had a problem with putting anything out to the curb; they take it all.

Of course, I also send a check every three months. ;)

Waste Management does a great job here in Lake Township for $10 a month and billing is every 6 months. :)

I had WM for a while (we recently moved and don't need them anymore) but they offered a major discount if you paid for a year rather than every three months.

I might wind up being in the minority here. But I must say my experience with Waste Management has been entirely negative.

Since moving to Oregon, I have had nothing but trouble with them. About every two weeks or so, the garbage man will simply NOT empty my can. He'll stop in front of the house, grab the cans from across the street, get back in the truck, and leave. When I call the 800 number to complain, they always ask if the can was "tagged", meaning did the driver leave a note to explain why he passed it up. The answer is always NO, there is never a tag. He just has decided he doesn't like me [which i totally understand, but I wish he'd still grab my trash.] Then I usually have to wait until the next day for them to come back. This happens at least once per month.

I have a can with a hinged lid. You have to go out of your way in order to remove the lid from the can, yet every week [when he bothers to take the trash in the first place, that is] the lid is laying in our yard, several feet from the can.

I have complained to the mayor and council, with no luck. When I call WM, they mostly make excuses for the driver or ask me stupid questions like "were your cans properly placed at the curb?" or "how heavy was your trash?" [????]

Sounds like the others here were happy with WM. So, maybe it is just me. But this has been a major frustration, so I could not resist throwing that out there.

I should clarify: the City of Oregon contracts with Waste Management. I didn't pick them, and I can't really ditch them for someone else...
