On the National Geographic channel? It is about the emergency trauma unit at a major hospital in Chicago. It's NOT for folks with weak stomachs. One scene showed a doctor talking to a patient, who had his chest split open so the doctor could do an "open heart massage", to try to restart his heart! All with no anesthetic! The cases all were gunshot, knife, and car crashes. One patient had leg irons on, attached to the railing on his bed. These doctors and nurses were all business, trying to save lives.

I love those shows. Used to like "Trauma: Life In the ER" that used to be on Discovery Health Channel.
Sister-in-law is a physician and told us stories of covering the ER on weekends. The shit people either do to themselves or have happen to them are limitless in imagination and scope. And emotions run the gamut from devastatingly sad to hysterically funny. In other words--stellar television material (if you can handle the blood & guts).

I saw "Chicago Trauma" also and thought that it was a great show. There is one point though that you seemed to be confused on though. If a patient had just had their chest split open and was recieving "open heart massage" I can assure you that the patient would not be having a conversation with the Doctor. That patient would probably be pretty close to clinicaly dead. I am sorry that you misunderstood this part of the scenario.
