Tobacco Haven Maumee

OK - Golden Gate Plaza had a Tobacco Haven going in about six months ago. Nice sign went up, you could see display racks going in....then (right around the time the state decided to tax the roll your own)before it opened, the sign came down. Then about three weeks ago the sign went back up and there was activity again. Now, the sign is down again and everything is out.

My question is; are all these "roll your own" places closing? Seems like the state closing the loophole really shuts these places down.

it was part of the federal transportation bill, not a state law.

Seems they would have been on top of their industry news - to know this might happened.

There was one that opened in the plaza at Mccord and Airport and closed recently. It wasn't open a year.

"The power to tax is the power to destroy." The libertarian in me is upset by this. If someone wants to supply tobacco and rolling papers so people can legally manufacture a legal product, why does the government care?

I didn't let my own mother mother me...I surely don't need a nanny state doing the same.

They shut down the RYO machines nation wide. These machines allowed customers to walk in and use there big cigarette rolling machine (cost about 30-50,000 dollars). Now that these are shut down the profit is down big time and a lot of stores are shutting down. Tobacco haven thrived off this in all of there locations. I know that there are two partners and there in dispute about money from what I hear from others and they've moved there own seperate ways.
