Garbage Salad Obsession

So here I sit in my Old West End home office, wondering what I'll have for lunch. One thought keeps barging into my brain: YOU MUST TRY A GARBAGE SALAD FROM GRUMPY'S!!! I've never had one, but I find myself thinking about the darn thing every single day. I suspect it will be like this until I finally get a chance to try one. And then the obsession will probably be even worse. LOL!

[I never, EVER go out for lunch during the work week. I have some health challenges, and even a quick outing to pick up lunch somewhere wears me out so much that I'm worthless the rest of the day.]

We should have a TT Meet and Greet at Grumpies. Been wanting to try the Garbage Salad as well. There was a thread recently about the sauce.

Yeah, it was that thread that totally hooked me and planted the MUST HAVE seed in my brain.

My brain must be full of "fertilizer", because that seed just kept growing like crazy. LOL!

Oh. My. God.

You guys TRIED to tell me. You did your BEST to make it crystal clear that this salad is AMAZING.

I have been initiated. Thank you, upso. And now you can all sit around me in a circle chanting "One of us. One of us. One of us..."

I have had the salad for almost two hours. I am still eating it, and I am still loving every bite. I had a 3 - 4 PM meeting to run via Go-to-Meeting, and in between my facilitation duties, I was shoveling salad in my face. I kept praying no one would ask me anything. But they did. So I fessed up and said that I was eating Garbage Salad from Grumpy's, and that I wasn't willing to stop for some silly corporate meeting. Everyone asked that info on Grumpy's be emailed to them, and I was happy to oblige :-)

Again, thank you upso! You've birthed a brand new Grumpy's Evangelist!

I had one today and I can say this is truely the best salad I have ever had. I did make the mistake of ordering a small salad and a cheeseburger, not knowing there is no such thing as a "small" garbage salad. I see more trips to Grumpy's coming soon.

I have been meaning to try Grumpy's for a few years, but the hours were not very conducive to a person who doesn't work downtown. Now that I'm not regularly in Toledo, I must experience it through online comments.

I do enjoy the Mediterranean Junk Salad at Zingo's, for what it's worth!

Since it is difficult for me to get to Grumpy's during the hours they are open, I spotted Grumpy's Poppy Seed dressing at Walt Churchill's Market and picked up a bottle. Can't wait to try it on my own version of a Garbage Salad!

My family loves poppy seed dressing. I gave Grumpy's dressing away as stocking stuffers for my mom and siblings last X-mas. It was a big hit.

yup! we're selling it at both churchill's stores and all of the 5stars in the area! we're meeting with a co-packer in pennsylvania in two weeks with hope of major expansion in production!

That is so cool! I work very near the Churchill's on Dixie Hwy, so I will be sure to pick some up this week. Now I just need to make a list of all the other "garbage" on the bona fide salad to see if I can create a rudimentary Doppelgänger version here at home.

I'm using a bottle right now! It's good stuff, and I want to thank you for sticking with real ingredients, rather than the cheap chemical substitutes found in so many bottled dressings.

Finally tried the dressing. Used it as slaw dressing tossed with some rough chopped red and green cabbage. Outstanding!

Now that I've tasted it, I havem't stopped thinking of all the things it would go well with......

We use it on our Carrot Cabbage slaw. As long as you're into sweet stuff, it goes well with pretty much everything. :)
