I heard that they are looking into putting a Wally World at the old Cub food site across from the Miracle Mile Krogers. Anyone else heard about this? I'd rather see one go at the Northtown mall location.
Wal-Mart at Miracle Mile?

I live near that area and have heard this rumors for years. Anything is better than an completely empty shopping center.

Without addressing the pro's and cons of Wal-Mart and focusing purely on business strategy that would be a very wise move on their part. That's a pretty populous area, lower income to middle income and the closest Wal-Mart's presently to that area are logistically a pain to get to from that sided of town If I were Kroger I would really, really not them to drop a Wal-Mart in that area which is Kroger's domain. That would be a huge loss of business to Kroger's and Meijer down on Alexis as well.

Bah, once they move Raceway Park, there will be a pile of land full of horseshit to be sold off at fire sale price, and that can easily have entrances off Detroit, Telegraph, and Alexis.
Personally, I'd be watching to see what Kroger does, given they're already going to build new in Maumee, and the persistent rumors that they would like the K-Sears property next door in Perrysburg to build SuperKroger on to compete with Mall*Wart, Meijer, and Giant Eagle. (Don't forget they had wanted to build by Levis Commons at one point!) That area is in for even more development, given that soon they'll have Westboro Baptist Chicken and Timpotle's opening up. The thing is, nobody wants Northtowne/Southwyck, nobody wants to be out by Woodville Mall, and nobody wants a cast-off medium to big box building that's available outside a few desirable spots in existing centers.

Not sure if it's true but someone told me that Kroger bought the old Cub food building so they could control what went in there. (keep the competition away)
I always assumed that whoever owned it must use it as a tax writeoff. It's been empty for a hell of a long time.

looks like a holding company from Indiana owns it, they bought it from national amusements for 3 million in 2003.
there is some type of business in the west end of that building. i see semi truck traffic there.
All that square footage and it sits mostly empty for all those years.
The property has been used by Cenveo Printers for a few years for production and storage for their main building at 1635 Coining, which is around the corner. Cenveo is the original Industrial Printing, which was purchased by Mailwell and then by Cenveo. If Wally world ever comes to that area Raceway Park would be my bet.
what about the old greenwood mall or northtowne once the city tears it down?
