El Tipico has reopened

For those on Toledo Talk who enjoy a family restaurant atmosphere I just wanted to pass along that El Tipico on South Street has reopened after extensive, extensive remodeling. We dined there last week and were very impressed by the changes. They have put a very nice parking lot in with a landscaped fringe and basically gutted the inside of the restaurant. The interior now includes paintings by local artist as well as glass work by local artist as well. They have been in operation since 1968 (44 years!) The food was excellent. We enjoyed their home made salsa, guacamole, vegetarian fajitas as well as beef tip burrito's topped with gravy. All delicious!

A few television stations have done recent features on the changes:

Is the food better and is that annoying guy still glad-handing everyone in the place and talking when you;re trying to eat?

ok, you said the food was good, not sure it's better than what we had months and months ago, just tell me that guy is gone, lol.

I believe that Dina Villa, the daughter of the original owners has stepped up to own and manage the restaurant. She was there on the day that we ate and has put a lot of time and work into the remodeling and reopening.
